A Follow-Up Message from our CEO

I just wanted to take a moment and provide you with an update and thank you for the positive feedback.  It's important to hear we are moving in the right direct.  Several great suggestions regarding new features and functionality have been received and are currently under review.   Soon, we’ll start sharing some of your ideas to solicit feedback.

A lot of the feedback we’ve received so far has been concerning Ning 2.0.  We know some of you have made significant investments in customizing your 2.0 networks.  Despite our intent to restart the migration process from 2.0 to 3.0, we won’t be forcing anyone to migrate at this time.  We’re still retooling the process and will make an announcement with more information here when it’s ready to go.

In support news, we’ll complete the transition moving our support back in-house this week.  We’re working diligently to reevaluate our internal policies and procedures to streamline the support experience.  This will take time, but it’s a top priority.

Please keep the feedback coming.  We need to hear the good, the bad and the ugly. As I said previously, I don’t consider you customers but partners, and I look forward to a prosperous partnership!

  • SMART MOVE. Personally, i won't move my 2.0 to 3.0 - under any circumstance. If one day you guys work the bugs out of 3.0 and it become a product I want to buy and use, I'll build a new network there.

  • Hi

I had hoped that we were over the problems that plagued us last year. I was seriously considering moving away from Ning but didn't. I'm really upset now!

A number of pages on one of our discussions (http://allaboutwriting.ning.com/group/10-day-writing-workout/forum/...)  have disappeared. Earlier this evening there were three pages and 17 comments and now there is only one page and four comments. This is really problematic. We are in the middle of a ten day course with 30 people on the course.  This is really upsetting as we had hoped the ongoing problems with Ning were over.

This is just unacceptable. It makes us look unprofessional!

Please look into this. I have submitted a ticket -

    Ticket #1861715

    Regards

    Trish

    • Hi Trish,

We do apologise for the inconvenience and thanks for the ticket number we will follow with you regarding this issue in the ticket if you don't mind.

      Best regards,

      Ning Team.

      • it's a curious statement you make about submitting a ticket....when I've tried for the past number of weeks weeks now, I get a OOOPS page and a message to send an email to support@ning.com.   NING's advantage to that?  NO RECORD OF CONTACT makes it easy to ignore messages about problems........

  • I just need to be able to download my content in a form that I can easily upload to my new website at Wordpress. The Archiving Tool hasn't been working correctly for years. What little I can get downloaded comes in the form of json files that are way beyond me to get uploaded elsewhere. So I'm doing copy and paste, one-by-one for the blogs and discussions that I want to keep... out of thousands. It's very tedious and I have to still pay that monthly fee until I'm satisfied that I have everything I need of content dating back to 2007.

TL;DR: I'd pay for a tool/plugin that moves the content (I don't care about members) to Wordpress. Please help me with this.

    • Hi Shelli,

Unfortunately our Archiver could save the info only in *.json files.

      Apologies for the inconveniences.

      Best regards,

      Ning Team

      • An apology is more than I got with the previous team, I'll grant you that, but the "inconvenience is costing me $24.95 per month for storage of my content. Ning or someone else should be able to program some kind of solution to copy everything and paste it over to Wordpress. I'll pay the first who can do it correctly, preserving the graphics and date signatures, not just the text.

Json files - at least the ones Ning provides - aren't working. They are riddles with errors and they are worthless once they're downloaded.. IF you can get the Archiver tool to work long enough to download them.

      • Kyryl fwiw the json stored for forums and (I think) photos are flawed and unusable.  Blogs, comments and members are fine but the others are worthless as they stand.  Need to be repaired on your end.  Just sayin'
