Acquisition Update

We’re happy to report that we have a bit more information we can now share publicly with you.  While Cyndx LLC took over Ning operations last week, they were ultimately outbid by another company, which has entered into an agreement with Mode Media to acquire Ning.  We can’t yet share the name of this company with you but will make an official announcement tomorrow with more information.

In the meantime, our team is keeping their heads down working to resolve accessibility issues, squash new and outstanding bugs, and answer your tickets and calls.  We’ve started tracking some of the more visible bugs (and their fixes) on our new Known & Recent Resolved Issues page.  You can also find this page listed nestled under the top-level News tab from any page on our Creators Network.

We also know that October 1st is fast approaching, and you have questions about the stated price increase.  Please stay tuned, as we’ll provide an update on that, as well, in tomorrow’s announcement.

    • Noosphere purchased Ning. They made a statement here:

Thanks, Valerie, just read it all. I wrote my comments several hours before the announcement. Truly happy to finally hear something. =)

        • You're welcome. Yes I saw the times but figured you might not have seen it yet. I'm glad too they finally told us something. Let's hope this is the beginning to a brighter future at Ning. At least they're not going to raise the rates *sigh*

Hi Valerie, yeah, I didn't see it until tonight. Thanks again. I have a good feeling about it all, for the first time in a very long time. =)

  • And, it's gone...  Communication that is.  Tomorrow has come and gone and no announcement of the name of this company that outbid Cyndx.

@Corey, 100% agree that the Ning representation should have kept their word, or updated us that the news was not ready to announce. On communication overall, pleasantly surprised. Even on their Facebook page, they respond quickly. I haven't seen this in 3 years. So, it gives me hope that this platform will turn around, and move forward in a positive direction. Fingers crossed...

      • I am still ultra nervous and cautious about things Jen. I think that the main thing we are all looking for and striving for is Stability. We haven't' had the comfort of seeing stability for the most part for the past several years. It would really boost the moral for the lines of communication to open a bit more between Ning, and the NCs. The lack of proper communication is compounded by the promise to let us know who took Ning over only to fail to do so. It would help the NCs and Ning both for things of that nature to also be resolved.

Chazz, agree, especially on "Stability" and "morale". I even wrote Ning with a plea to them to please keep their promises. I understand the messenger for Ning was probably stopped, and no information can be shared, yet. However, I'm with you and JD, at the least they could make an announcement of this type.

          • Exactly

      • After not receiving auto-responses to the two cancellation notices I sent to them on my 3.0 expansion site, I posted my cancellation on FB.  Someone from Ning came out and posted that I could call them (We're available Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm PST.) and I did. Someone named Affen took the call.  When asked who purchased them, he said they don't know!
