Announcements from Ning

Acquisition Update

We’re happy to report that we have a bit more information we can now share publicly with you.  While Cyndx LLC took over Ning operations last week, they were ultimately outbid by another company, which has entered into an agreement with Mode Media to acquire Ning.  We can’t yet share the name of this company with you but will make an official announcement tomorrow with more information.

In the meantime, our team is keeping their heads down working to resolve accessibility issues, squash new and outstanding bugs, and answer your tickets and calls.  We’ve started tracking some of the more visible bugs (and their fixes) on our new Known & Recent Resolved Issues page.  You can also find this page listed nestled under the top-level News tab from any page on our Creators Network.

We also know that October 1st is fast approaching, and you have questions about the stated price increase.  Please stay tuned, as we’ll provide an update on that, as well, in tomorrow’s announcement.

    • Send that comment on to Ning as evidence you're losing members (and visitors)

      • Already did.  Here, email to support, email for, FB...think I rate an answer?

        • My network and all ning networks did that to me. I tried to put in a ticket, it wouldn't load the page enough to let me. I tried to comment on here that I needed my site straightened out, and this site also wouldn't load enough for me to be able to do so. I finally had to go to Facebook and complain on the ning page openly. They finally have my site accessible, but seemed unhappy with my doing the complaint on Facebook. I hope your site gets straightened out.. I thought I was never going to get back on my own site. I wish I knew what to offer to you as a suggestion.

  • Ning announces on Sept 27:  "While Cyndx LLC took over Ning operations last week, they were ultimately outbid by another company, which has entered into an agreement with Mode Media to acquire Ning.  We can’t yet share the name of this company with you but will make an official announcement tomorrow with more information."

SOOOOO...???  What company purchased Ning ,? Why are we not being told? why no communication.

  • Mayb Cydx backed out of the purchase and nobody purchased Ning from the now defunct Mode ?? Is ning just drifting at sea now with skeleton crew? Why wont they tell us anything ?

  • Suki,

That is exactly what I am afraid of.  This experience is seeming VERY familiar, as though we are working with the same crew that we had a month ago, a year ago!

"I kept four networks on the Ning Platform, since 2010. Due to the increase, expressed the desire to remain active only one of them, although the increase is bitter. But two days ago, I can not OTHERWISE access it. Sometimes, I can view the page, but do not allow me entry. Sometimes, even the first page of the network is visible, appearing to me on the screen the message: "500: Unexpected Error". Members also can not access and this problem is repeated a few months ago. However, I never have been deducted from the tuition fee the recurring failures platform Ning.

The situation is untenable, compounded by the fact that our demands do not receive answers. Those responsible for the platform Ning simply ignore our problems, caused by system inconsistency.

Would be the case of get together a considerable number of network creators, for we enter the courts, in joint action to will rescue our rights."

  • And, it's gone...  Communication that is.  Tomorrow has come and gone and no announcement of the name of this company that outbid Cyndx.

    • NC for Hire

@Corey, 100% agree that the Ning representation should have kept their word, or updated us that the news was not ready to announce. On communication overall, pleasantly surprised. Even on their Facebook page, they respond quickly. I haven't seen this in 3 years. So, it gives me hope that this platform will turn around, and move forward in a positive direction. Fingers crossed...

      • After not receiving auto-responses to the two cancellation notices I sent to them on my 3.0 expansion site, I posted my cancellation on FB.  Someone from Ning came out and posted that I could call them (We're available Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm PST.) and I did. Someone named Affen took the call.  When asked who purchased them, he said they don't know!
