We launched Ning 3.0 just over two weeks ago. While the overall market response has been really awesome, we have – based on the feedback here on Creators – somewhat underestimated the confusion and potential pain this new generation platform could create for some of you.
We value and carefully consider your input, and have decided to offer more flexibility and appreciation for you all as existing Ning customers.
Grandfathered in at 2x Member Limits
Rather than differentiate plans by features, storage and bandwidth, we set member limits for each plan. Number of members is a visible and intuitive measure of Network Creator success. We believe that you deserve a break when the time comes to upgrade. Therefore, existing Ning Networks will be grandfathered in at 2x the member limit of the new plans.
When you upgrade from Ning 2.0 to Ning 3.0, the Basic plan will support 2,000 members and the Performance plan will support 20,000 members. According to our data, this means that less than 1% of all our existing customers should see any price increase.
3-Month Post Upgrade Grace Period
We have also decided to give you an extra three more months after you upgrade before applying any member limits. And we will provide you with tools during and after the upgrade process to remove long-time inactive members from your network and clean house.
Limitless Moderators
Several of you voiced concerns with limiting the number of moderators. Recruiting active members to help moderate is a powerful tool for NCs to effectively manage their community and reward their most engaged members. We agree and we will be changing our pricing plans to reflect this. All Ning 3.0 subscribers can have an unlimited number of moderators (capped by your members plan limit). Moderators can be given full moderation privileges (approve, feature, edit, delete or suspend) for multiple features, content type and/or members. However the Ning 3.0 plans include a limitation on the number of Administrators—those with full access to the design, layout and settings of your network— Administrators will be limited to 2, 5 and 10 respectively.
'Powered by Ning | Mode Social' Footer Requirement
As we have shared in our FAQs and in several discussion topics, displaying "Powered by Ning | Mode Social" in network footers is important for the health of our business. While we recognize that some of you will decide to leave the platform on account of it, we will not waive this requirement. However to mitigate the impact for some of you, we do intend to put an affiliate program in place that will allow you to gain some value for clickthroughs and referrals. We’ll also provide more flexibility in terms of where and how to display the logo (options such as centering it).
Ning 2.0 Upgrade, Migration and Retirement Timeline
As we have announced, we are working on a seamless upgrade process for Ning 2.0 Networks and plan to release it this summer. Once the upgrade process is available, Ning 2.0 Networks will have at least one year to move to Ning 3.0. We will confirm the exact schedule for the Ning 2.0 retirement when we officially release these migration tools. Before we officially release these tools, we are planning to work with many of you on a beta program for this key feature to make sure that it works as well as can be expected and minimize all changes and concerns for the vast majority of our existing customers.
We hope these changes address most of your concerns and give you a bit more confidence in our own ability to listen to you all. We appreciate the time and energy you pour into your communities, and are committed to delivering you a great and viable platform for years to come.
Thank you all for your feedback; we couldn’t do this without you. If you haven’t already, please take advantage of our offer to create a Ning 3.0 Sandbox Network. We would love for you to experience the redesign firsthand and get a jump-start on developing your Ning 3.0 Network. Don't forget to drop by and let us know how it's going!
NOTE: Post Edited on 4/29/14 to reflect Glam Media's name change to Mode Media.

Lightworker (now-n);Any being dedicated to the cultivation of inner presence and the elevation of awareness in self and other selves. This being is called a lightworker and is an evolutionary step toward a state of "LightBeing"
some of the lightworkers i know are also some of tyhe wackiest weirdos i ever met lol but thats what makes them special
i just reconnected with an old freind from way back pipemaker
we met years ago on a now extinct chat program called powwow
on there there was a chat room called medicine spirit lodge , mostly native americans alotta shamans sundancers u name it it was run by wa ta chee we called her grandma wa
it was a spiritual lightworker chat but it was also a nonstop riotois fun time they were outragiosly funny
there i met chief ironbear and thunderhorse both spirit chiefs and sundancers ironbear sent me a book called lame deer seeker of vissions by john fire lame deer
one of the things i remember most was how he said his path to becoming a shaman began as a alcaholic criminal thug because to walk the path of a shaman and teacher you cant be too aloof you cant be to "better then you' you have to be approachable and relatable you have to walk the path of the common man suffer the trials and troubles of those yoiu atre meant to guide
point being lightworkers maybe wise teachers but they are just as human just as weird whacky and wonderful as everyone else
and they sometimes do odd things that make you wonder
i trul,y love that girl though my belieef system may difer and i dont have much resopect fir many that clkaim to be of that belief i know hes 1 that has a pure true heart and i deeply respect it
shes pretty damn beautiful too
but often beauty is more a curse then assest as people are blinded by it and see flesh notthe heart within
with her however if you saw her yes u could be blinded by the beauty but the moment she spoke .. all youd see was her spirit shining
you know i love you so much
but no ning wiuldnt close as a direct result of negativity your right it rolls off thier backs..but consumers are diferent they look for negativity as a sign of wether to trust a company or not
the negativity can drasticly reduce thier income and therefore shut them down from lack of funding..not byu choice but nesescity
like i said about the tv studio
1 single person that didnt get a show picked up called them a scam
that 1 single person posted some youtube vids to that effect..and cost them a million dollars
and thats why he was sued
from there it snowballed just like you see happening here
if 1 person can cause a company to lose a million dollars what affect do you think all the nonsejnc ve here on creatotrs has done toi ning/
cost them 30..50 100 million?
no matter the numbers it certainly wouldf have an impact on the speed and ability to complete features in a timely manor
if people would chill out and creatotrs get helpful again it wouldnt solve the problem too much damage is already done..butit might start to restore some faith and sliwly get things back on track
again i love you sooooooo much
your always 1 of the wisest people here
I wish i could remember where i saw this, and i dont know if it still holds true but i read a ning staff thing that said everyone had to transfer over roughly 12 months after ning 3 phase one had begun. it said Ning 3 phase one begun in March 2014.
So on that account you should be fine until March 2015. But dont quote me on that as they hardly seem to be the most consistent transparent of companies these days and could easily change the goal post mid match..
I think it was here i got my information from, this is an update and you will see from the heading in yellow that phase one started in march and in the bumf it says at least 12 months from that when you have to migrate,
https://creators.ning.com/faq/upgrading-to-ning-3
But dont ask me, the whole things seems more convoluted than ever..
it was 18 months from when stage 3 was released not stage 1
they did expect that to take 6 months not a year and 6 months
That info is no longer accurate SE, best not to keep posting it.
why is it no longer accurate and look whos talking you post inacurate info constantly
from my understanding this is still the case although the 18 months isnt set in stone its flexible but thbats the target to have all nin gt sites migrated by a year and 1/2 after stage 3 is released
ok maybe saying you post inacurate info is not 100% accurate either but you constantlypost misleading info
like do you remember posting a picture of a ning sign in thier officve and 1 single dessk visible on the edge anbd implying that ning has downsized to q1 single person but it was just the narrow andle of the photo that showeed only the sign?
and today posting alexa ratings claiming that ning issuddenly "falling off a cliff' despite the fact that the ratings were extremnely good ratings and had a slight decline for a month but was currently rising not falling/
how can ning be falling oiff a cliff when its ratings are 20 times better then any of its competitors?
maybe yoiu should stop constantly posting misleading info thats designed just to make ning look bad
and heres something you should also concider
your so worried that nings "planning on closing up shop without notice"
but whgsat do you do all day every day buyttry to make that happen/
you realize that the hundreds and hundreds of negative posts all sayimnjg stuff like nings abandoned us ning is planning on screwing us etc etcd etcf is driving away would be customers , taking hundreds ofd thousands of dollars away from the development team making it take longer and longer to finish
and potentialy ultimateky dooming ning toi the fate that you clkaim they are planning
they dont have to plan it
its all the negativity that will force it to happen
its not ning thats abandoning us or closing up shop its you thats abandoning ning and forcing them to close
a company does not exist As a stand aloned entity
a company requires customers clients investors supporters advisers etc to survive
every single 1 of the 'nings screwing us' posts takes away supporters takes away investors takes away customers and ultimatelky dooms the company to failure
so if ning does indeed faitl it will not be modes fault
mode put 150 million dollars into ning
itsnit thier fault ning fails
its yours youyr taking 150 million away from ning with the constant complaints
yes now theres cayse for complaints cause its taken a year longer then expected
but your complaints started right from day 1 of the announcements.. when ppl should have nbeen excited
so it is theoreticly entirely possible that it is your fault that it has taken this long
and i dont m,ean you and you alone i mean every one that has constantly posted about ning planning to close even while they are investing lilliions and months of hard work iknto a new and aaesome platform
but people read these posts and see nothing but negativity and get scared away and ning loses money every single day because of it
now you are damn lucky nings as nice as they are
i was submitting a tv show idea to a tv studio
and a few ppl that thier ideas were rejected started calling the intermediary studio a scam and posting a ton of negativity just like you that costs them millions
and they sued them
ning and mode could sue so many of you for defirmation of charachter and they would win
and believe me modes got the lawyers to do that
you are only hurting ning..wich is hurting you by these constant complaints
your killing the platform
now i assume that many of you are stiull here because u stillhave a ning site still believe theres potential or still hope things wirk out
but it will be up to you to be more suppirtive in order fir that to be pissible
and if you no longer believe in ning if you thing they have abandoned u then just shyut up and move on sttop sticking around month after month complaining and just move to an inferior and more expensive platform
but if u have any hope at all for a future with ning then youare responsible for helping ning succeseeed by trying to be possitive and hope that ning gets the customers and backers it needs to finnish 3,0 in a timely manor
but i have heard ppl say dozens of times that ning has downsized to 2 or 3 ppl theres no development team no engineers no tech support and all thgats left ids some outsourced phone answerers that is simply not true and that kind of talk is sure to doomthe companyt to total collapse and failure wether its true ornot
