Chat Feature Update on Ning 3.0 is ready!

Good news - it`s time to announce the release of the Chat Feature on Ning 3.0 platform.

Today we are happy to provide you with the opportunity to chat with other members of your Ning Network in the most convenient and efficient way. To facilitate your community management experience, we have added several new options:

  • New design
  • Customizable notifications
  • Message counter
  • Ability to create and manage groups (rename, add photos, delete and add users, block users)
  • Ability to send files

Chats 3.0 is an easy-to-use tool for building an effective network. With this release, you can customize notifications in accordance with your needs, rename your groups, add photos and users, use a message counter to monitor the number of messages, delete the messages you don’t need, send files, and suspend members from chat. The Chat Feature is available for both Ning 3.0 and 2.0 platforms.

We have a lot of ideas and plans, so please stay tuned for our updates and share your opinion with us!

        • Holly keep an eye on it.  We have to 'refresh' numerous times throughout the day and Ning hasn't fixed that.  It's nice, though, having the larger chat area.  That tiny one is a joke.  lol

      • YAYYYYY!  It's back!  The small chat in the corner is entirely too small for us - nothing is better than the larger view (for us).

        Still have a guy asking a/b a popout but we can wait for that.  I think his laptop overheats and he struggles with resources but for 99% of us, this works.

            Our tech team has been working on chat servers recently and the loading speed should have been increased.

            • I'm not John but on my site it can take up to five seconds.  We're still refreshing too.  An annoying joke at this point.  Glad this is a small site.  A huge site would have a stroke

                I have sent your networks to the QA team for the review once again, but actually, it's weird as each time we are testing chat it's working fine. Anyway, when I would receive the reply from them I'll let you know about the results.

                • Kyryl we've made a joke out of it at this point, which is sad.  Abhimanyu Bind entered.  Posted ONE TIME and never returned.  "Testuser" was there and posted several times............all in a ROW in about one minute and then left as well.  Seriously guys, do they think it happens THAT quickly?   Great testing job.  smh

                  We're now posting "when" we have to refresh so if they even pull the daily chat history and read it - they'll be able to SEE when (and how often) it occurs.

                  • Wouldn't it just be simpler all round if the old ordinary chat that was added to Ning a few months ago was available to run now while this new fancy thing goes through its teething phase? We waited so darn long for a chat feature and for it to not function well seems a pity.

            The pretty nice solution, I should say.

            Regarding the chat history loading speed, I have created the report and sent it to the QA team so they could run several tests.
