That 208.82.17.58 is their "front door."  Our clients are getting there but there's no place to go.  There are a billion things that would cause this including insufficient resources and other CDN issues.  The thing I can't understand is why it's hitting the users of certain relatively small internet providers and not everyone in general.  Well, that, and why they won't Ning make a public statement but ,who's keeping track?

  • Do you all know that you need ot use Chrome to access? You know that right? Well, I have had zero problems on my site for  3 days, all members are back on and most are using Chrome... I have one member using TOR browser and he says no problems..

    • When my site was down not one single browser worked.  I have Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Opera.  NADA.  But now all get me to my site.

      • @Donna Mac.  I suspect the issue was with your Internet Service Provider (ISP).  I was on the phone with Time Warner Cable for three hours yesterday when I realized I could not ping my NING site, but the http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/ning.com.html showed it as active.  Time Warner confirmed they were blanket-blocking all the NING.COM IP addresses, but the tech I was working with couldn't advise on why that was happening.  He escalated it to their security team.  Hopefully, it will get unblocked next week.

In the meantime, I find I can access the NING sites using the browser on my cell-phone.

        • I checked the isitdownrightnow.com and my site was indeed down.  I could not get to it from any phone or tablet either.  My site is up and running great right now.  Sorry you are having these issues....how totally expected.

    • I attempted to use Chrome, Internet Explorer, Maxthon, Firefox, and my Microsoft Edge while my site was going down and inaccessible and none of the browsers were able to connect to my site. I am glad that it has worked for you, but I didn't have that kind of luck.

      • Yeah, I guess it is not the answer... now I hear folks are checking with their servers...

      •  Chazz,   WOW! Bummer.. I would be so disgusted.

I am on a 2.0, and in the past- besides doing all the other tips like hard refresh, checked with the ISP (it was my server one time) and dumping cookies usually using a different browser worked...

However that said my members do say they cannot access other Ning sites... who knows maybe I was nice to the right person! Have you had any response to tickets?

        • I have actually had responses. Thankfully. Usually it took several days for the site to become accessible again, and a few it was only like that for one day. I also had my Domain pull a boner on me and mess it up one of the times, so that really wasn't Ning's fault at all. I am now checking out options, But whether I stay here on Ning, or go to another platform, I want it to be my option that I was able to choose to make, rather than being a choice I had no other option but to make. Know what I mean?
