      • We must look for alternatives, there is no other way. Ning is arrogant, no support with email, no support at calling the billing team, lost today over 80 Euro to try to reach NING billing team by phone at USA from Germany reach nobody and only hearing music at the telephone line.... .and other persons write articels here in Europe at Facebook and Twitter and they are warning people about ning! My businss is now totaly destroyed from ning, thousends of Euros away for nothing, lost all my business. Lost my advertisers!!! All are away, who want to advertise at a site which is always offline / Down???  All my networks are down so many times now. I also payes for about 8 month the paywall but it was not running, i always told this the ning support and they charges the money every month for it, is this fair? When I ask if I get back my money they said : NO!

        Now I cannot pay anything and dont know from wich money I can buy food for my children.....Business detroyed from Ning.

  • There is nothing exciting about an overpriced service.  There is no way that many creators (especially those who are non profit organizations) can afford the outrageous and extortionist price hikes for a glorified php Social Site script that could run on a Wordpress site.

    Under smart management NING could return to be an affordable and exciting social network returning a good profit to investors and also serving the community at large commercial and non commercial alike.   Bring back the original fees that NING charged to creators when it started.  Bring back ad supported free sites for those who are starting out--and NING will thrive once again.

    Allow greed to dictate your actions just like Mode has done and NING will fold just like Mode has folded.  It is such a shame that anything worthwhile eventually succumbs to greed.  It will not be long when some other company will create an alternative to NING.  There is a huge demand for an ethical, sensible and affordable social network platform, so there is no question that sooner or later this will become a reality.  When that does happen I will be the first to leave.  I am now actively looking for an alternative.  I do not want to leave, but your insane behaviour has left me with no other choice.  $56 per month was already a heavy burden.  Double that overpriced cost and you have priced yourself out of the market.

  • I am officially out of the clutches of NING!  It was wonderful for many years.  And now it is a nightmare.  I am not part of it anymore.  Good luck everyone!

    • Donna, Fill us in, What happened? Did they agree to a refund? Did they simply shut down the site? I fear many of us will be soon waving goodbye to Ning as well.

      • I called and spoke to a NING billing person.  I told them American Express was my mediator and the charge is being disputed.  Amex is aware that I just paid and will be contacting them shortly.  I went to to say they could avoid the legal hassle, and give me a FULL refund and cancel my site.  After Tanvir placed me on hold, he came back to tell me my site was canceled and my refund will show up on my card within 3 business days.  American Express is aware of this and will proceed with the dispute should the money not be refunded.  I have sent Amex a TON of documentation, screenshots, etc.  I then pointed my NING site to my new site.  I think the reason a refund is considered on NING's part is because I had just paid it. Then again, it's not a refund until it's a refund on my card. So yep....they canceled IMMEDIATELY....poof....gone.  But I have Amex on my side.
