Current status of the Ning Platform is always available on the Ning Status Blog.

Today we're pleased to release a set of improvements to the Activity Feed feature on Ning 3.0 networks.

The updated Activity Feed allows members to view older items in the feed, and to view new items that have appeared since they loaded the page.

We've expanded the capabilities of Social Feeds so that you can have items automatically added to the Activity Feed via RSS and Twitter.

We've added a status feature, so that your members can leave status updates in the feed, and we've added link parsing for status updates, so that if a member adds a link, for example, to YouTube, the video is embedded and playable directly in the feed. Link parsing and embedding works with a wide variety of sites, including: YouTube, Dailymotion, Vine, Flickr video, Twitter, Soundcloud and Bandcamp. We'll also provide a preview of content for any link to a site that supports the OpenGraph standard.

With this release, members can also comment on status updates and individual photos directly in the feed.

In order to see and activate the new options that are available for the Activity Feed, head to the Activity Feed Settings page in the Social Site Manager.

                • Anam I share your view on these comments not appearing.  Ning will have to address it (imho) but sadly, lord only knows when that would occur.

                  • Thank you Kos.

          • That actually would be fabulous. let people choose whether they want to have it visible in Settings. For a small site like mine I would have it visible. Obviously larger sites might not. I am sorry to have banged on about this. It has been a dreadful blow really to have had so much activity disappear in one fell swoop and to not know when that might be remedied. Apologies for my grim and boring persistence. :)

  • Unable to change status prompt from "what are you up to?" in Firefox.  Did a hard refresh.  Have not tried other browsers.

      • I tried that

  • I just applied for migration!!!! This is what I needed to see.

  • So far I am pleased. It took me a little while to set up properly....had to change from titles to Detail as the Names of added things do not appear in Activity Setting otherwise. But since I was only really looking for a MORE button, and got it, I guess I gotta say I am pleased. Thanks Ning. Onwards and Upwards.

    • Hang On...Thus far the Latest Activity Feed does not update as one posts. Will report back later.....

I see what it is. The Latest Activity does not record Comments in the Comment Wall on Groups (Ning 3) .. It has been doing so thus far on the old Activity Feed. Please advise. perhaps my settings are incomplete. If not and if this is the way things are then this is not good.

This kind of linked in with a discussion I posted here a few days ago which got no repiles..ie that Comments on Comment Walls in Groups do not move the Group back up to the Top of the Group Hub. So....if the Comments on Comment Wall in Groups are not showing in Activity Feed it is almost as if they do not exist, for they neither move up the Group nor do they appear in latest Activity now as they used to. This would be a retrograde step as casual comments on Group Comment Walls are very common activity. Again looking for advice here in case I have some settings wrong. All the best.

      • So okay to clarify

NO COMMENTS on Comment Walls in Groups appear on the new Latest Activity Feed. All the old comments that were in the old Feed have disappeared from the feed too, so this is obviously the way this was set up. is this a problem for anyone else? It is for me as comments on Comment Walls on Groups is one of the most usual activities on my site. Am I alone in this?

        • I've just noticed that too and have been experimeting as I have the activity feed in a few places and also use comments extensively in groups as it is something that is most active - I have a lot of private groups so it might not be a big issue for my network. Still though it's not how 2.0 worked - would be MUCH better to have had options on what to include in the activity feed from across the network rather than 'items' which is far too vague

With all the extra feature instances it doesn't feel as flexible as it should be i.e we should be able to select things like things
