Current status of the Ning Platform is always available on the Ning Status Blog.

Today we're pleased to release a set of improvements to the Activity Feed feature on Ning 3.0 networks.

The updated Activity Feed allows members to view older items in the feed, and to view new items that have appeared since they loaded the page.

We've expanded the capabilities of Social Feeds so that you can have items automatically added to the Activity Feed via RSS and Twitter.

We've added a status feature, so that your members can leave status updates in the feed, and we've added link parsing for status updates, so that if a member adds a link, for example, to YouTube, the video is embedded and playable directly in the feed. Link parsing and embedding works with a wide variety of sites, including: YouTube, Dailymotion, Vine, Flickr video, Twitter, Soundcloud and Bandcamp. We'll also provide a preview of content for any link to a site that supports the OpenGraph standard.

With this release, members can also comment on status updates and individual photos directly in the feed.

In order to see and activate the new options that are available for the Activity Feed, head to the Activity Feed Settings page in the Social Site Manager.

                    • Thank you so much Tim :)

I almost got all the way there with this tip...I will copy it down now for future reference! Great stuff

                    • Hi Anam,

I've just posted this How To. https://creators.ning.com/forum/topics/rss-semi-workround-for-missin...

And I've just noticed that the Activity Feed is back working again. Somebody reset that when they got back in the office then? Isn't that what remote desktops are for?

Oh well, you never know when you might need it again...

      • I'm this side of the pond, too. Given that it's been down for ten hours now, this must have occurred during US West Coast business hours. As I pointed out in my support ticket, it's not just inaccurate that the status blog says 'things are humming along nicely', it's also rather patronising. If you even felt that they had acknowledged there was an issue, you'd be *slightly* put at ease! but you can't help thinking they didn't even notice!

  • Ning 3.0 is a joke.

  • I'm trying to be patient but the Ning Status Blog is a slap in the face, the on-call team is no where to be found, and meanwhile the main feature that got people to migrate is now in disarray. Most of you know I don't get into the bashing, but this is crazy.

  • Now you've really done it ning! I have no activity! All gone..disappeared totally! Really getting fed up and I don't know how you guys can take our money when this ning 3.0 is clearly not ready! OMG its so crap!

    • Well if you fork out for a year  lea, they do give you 2 months free,, :)))

thank god i got monthly. What i hate most is this is making me look like a total tit to my members who have already started donating to the site funds..

Most decent people who start to get money from its members feel morally obligated to give them something worth paying for.. Its a pity that Ning dont seem to run with that philosophy.

      • yes I paid yearly steve....oh well! just have to ride the wave I suppose. Im guessing ning knew they would be overloaded with complaints and they have all been told to just ignore us. They SHOULD have alerted us all that this was going to happen though. Their duty of care is pitiful!

  • Rant begins...

Yet for some reason we all still post HERE.

Ning was a Social Platform - What is Glam/Mode?

Even a failed fake response to basic consumer issues would be better - "social" actually means "people".

When a company fails it's customers those customers might have no other choice than to let others know across the Interwebs, not in the invisible Creators forum.

    But here's my rub...

What if Ning/Glam/Mode could care less what prospects or customers think?

What if Ning/Glam/Mode has already decided to move on and is simply positioning itself to the safest "could care less" position?

Ning/Glam/Mode go ahead... take a look at the Training's you promoted to all of us... you had Professionals leverage their own Name, Brand and Influence (Richard Millington are you here?) do Presentations on... "Building and Serving Community".

Please refresh us on what we should expect the "Community Mission" to be with the Ning/Glam/Mode platform.

One can only assume that you've decided that it's better to have "Orphans" than "Family".

Even Sprint offers a "Framily" Plan and it comes with discounts for sharing and has a caring Gerbil as a father figure.

    SILENCE... IS a market weakness!

    Ning/Glam/Mode you know this.

At one time I paid over $1000 per month to NING to operate Communities NOT Networks.

No matter the old, recent or new name... it doesn't matter if you can't even pay ATTENTION to those who pay you TODAY.

    Out.
