Current status of the Ning Platform is always available on the Ning Status Blog.

Today we're pleased to release a set of improvements to the Activity Feed feature on Ning 3.0 networks.

The updated Activity Feed allows members to view older items in the feed, and to view new items that have appeared since they loaded the page.

We've expanded the capabilities of Social Feeds so that you can have items automatically added to the Activity Feed via RSS and Twitter.

We've added a status feature, so that your members can leave status updates in the feed, and we've added link parsing for status updates, so that if a member adds a link, for example, to YouTube, the video is embedded and playable directly in the feed. Link parsing and embedding works with a wide variety of sites, including: YouTube, Dailymotion, Vine, Flickr video, Twitter, Soundcloud and Bandcamp. We'll also provide a preview of content for any link to a site that supports the OpenGraph standard.

With this release, members can also comment on status updates and individual photos directly in the feed.

In order to see and activate the new options that are available for the Activity Feed, head to the Activity Feed Settings page in the Social Site Manager.

    • I just dont get it, and i never will.. Why would anyone pay all that money for Ning, one of the most respected social community platforms of all time, to risk destroying its reputation like this..

This has happened once before when the British developed vbulletin which became the worlds leading, the must have forum software of all time got bought out by the massive us company "internet brands" and to say they have turned this once mighty software into utter garbage is an understatement to the extent that a massive chunk of VB owners wont upgrade from 3.8. and its in version 5 now, and some would say, they have never once released a proper working version of VB since.. not to mention really bad support, no communication from anyone in charge and very poor bug fixing  (sound familiar)

This seems to be following the same pattern but unfortunately people wont have a choice to stay on The mighty Ning 2 they will eventually be forced onto 3.0

      Ready or not..

      I suspect "Not" :-(

    • yeah, well said Pat. Notice the activity feed here now? all FB postings...They care about something..bad publicity I suspect. Write this on their FB page Pat and see what happens...Ill be watching for it. :)

          • Great recap Anthony - of course I didn't think that any of those folks would engage - I still hold several in high regard - I just wanted to be drop something in their feed.

It was interesting and fun to see when it started to get re tweeted knowing their handles were going to show up in more streams. That was more the point.

            Make this a great day!

            • Well lets hope they start to pay some attention Pat :)

    • "...and has a caring gerbil as a father figure."
