Today we're pleased to release a set of improvements to the Activity Feed feature on Ning 3.0 networks.

The updated Activity Feed allows members to view older items in the feed, and to view new items that have appeared since they loaded the page.

We've expanded the capabilities of Social Feeds so that you can have items automatically added to the Activity Feed via RSS and Twitter.

We've added a status feature, so that your members can leave status updates in the feed, and we've added link parsing for status updates, so that if a member adds a link, for example, to YouTube, the video is embedded and playable directly in the feed. Link parsing and embedding works with a wide variety of sites, including: YouTube, Dailymotion, Vine, Flickr video, Twitter, Soundcloud and Bandcamp. We'll also provide a preview of content for any link to a site that supports the OpenGraph standard.

With this release, members can also comment on status updates and individual photos directly in the feed.

In order to see and activate the new options that are available for the Activity Feed, head to the Activity Feed Settings page in the Social Site Manager.

    • Alexander yesterday they took almost 24 hours to appear.  It's ridiculous.

  • How do you get the rss of the activity feed itself?

    • Ray the activity feed does have it's own RSS.  One would have to grab the feeds from forums, blogs, photos, etc and combine them into one using Yahoo Pipes or some such.

    Ok, so you released the updates to the activity feed on July 29th, a month ago.  After about six months of working on it.

    Tell us please, is that what you are still working on? ..the activity feed updates that you have been working on for seven months?  We are waiting to hear what's next up, and some idea of when.

    Can you please update your Product Road Map with some new information, to let your customers know 'what, exactly' you are working on now?  Or are even planning to work on next?

    You keep telling your hundreds (thousands?) of customers to go look at the Product Road Map for the latest updates.  But there are no latest updates, in fact no updates at all since March.  Honestly, I have to say this is awful treatment of your paying customers.

    At this point, the Ning Facebook page is revealing this shabby consumer neglect publicly.  Have you noticed?  I have, and I'm not even a member of FB.  Surely all this must be effecting your 'business viability' that the Ning CEO so frequently brings up.  Can you not step up and do the right thing and clue in your customers (we the paying lifeblood, the cash cow) with regularity, like other companies do?

    Respectfully, waiting to get real and regular updates on what you are actually doing concerning our platform future. We have plans and businesses we need to run too, and we need semi-reliable information to do it, not more deflective marketing rhetoric.
