Today we're pleased to release a set of improvements to the Activity Feed feature on Ning 3.0 networks.
The updated Activity Feed allows members to view older items in the feed, and to view new items that have appeared since they loaded the page.
We've expanded the capabilities of Social Feeds so that you can have items automatically added to the Activity Feed via RSS and Twitter.
We've added a status feature, so that your members can leave status updates in the feed, and we've added link parsing for status updates, so that if a member adds a link, for example, to YouTube, the video is embedded and playable directly in the feed. Link parsing and embedding works with a wide variety of sites, including: YouTube, Dailymotion, Vine, Flickr video, Twitter, Soundcloud and Bandcamp. We'll also provide a preview of content for any link to a site that supports the OpenGraph standard.
With this release, members can also comment on status updates and individual photos directly in the feed.
In order to see and activate the new options that are available for the Activity Feed, head to the Activity Feed Settings page in the Social Site Manager.

Well everyone. As much as I'm not really liking the 3.0 set up I have decided that I'm not ready just yet to let go of my site. It's still small and new. And room for improvement. I think with getting a good admins team together and making some modifications to the site. Well it may take off. One thing I have to say here as I believe in the laws of attraction.
Let me explain as I'm going to try and bring more positive energies than negative at this point. When you bring negative aspects into a situation it only becomes more negative. If you think negative negative things are going to happen. Not all taking up for NING here. But there is a lot of Negativity going on with in this creator site alone. And the more negativity that comes into well. You see what's happening. The longer it is taking NING to get things upgraded and so on. I think somehow if we could all bring some positive thoughts and have a positive outlook to things. Well thing will begin to change. Slowly but yes they will change. Think positive that NING is going to get it all done. Keep that in thought. Try to keep all negative thoughts at bay.
I've seen a post somewhere on here can't remember where I read this. But it seems that NING is working on the activity feed so it works more effieciantly. As working on several other things too. Who knows. If we can all get positive. Maybe just maybe here in a couple months we will wake up and our sites will be transformed. I'm going to try really hard to stay positive. And I'm going to wait a while longer. You are all welcome to come check out my site. It's a spiritual network. I'm going to be working on some changes. So here in the next few days it'll look different. Going to pray that life will come to my site.

Well everyone. NING is losing my business. As my site has been open only a little over 5 months. My admins and I have decided to close down our site. Before any more work goes into it. I don't really like the new NING 3.0 platform. I'm a part of 3 other sites that haven't migrated yet. So I'm going to stick with them for now. And let my site go.
We will be closing it at the end of this month. I'm actually a little relieved and sad at the same time. My admin and I had such high hopes.
If I was stuck with 3.0 I would be doing the same thing. As it is, I have had a 2.0 NING site for seven years and loved it. BUT, in light of all the months into years of misery here, I have created another site on a different platform which is going to take the place of my NING site forever. I wish you the very best and totally think you are doing the right thing.....sad indeed.
Thank you Alexander. I do hope that yours does well. I think in time all will be fine. With being married and having 3 kids. Well it's proving to take just way to much of my time to get my site where it needs to be. Just time to move on.
Why is there no RSS for the activity feed? There was in 2.0. I want all activity to show up in my community twitter account and now I need to patch together so kind of crazy work around. Reply if you agree that we need a RSS feed with all community activity!!

The grandly announced 'release' of the 'new activity feed improvements' at the end of July was apparently just a big FAKE OUT.
The truth seems to be that they did NOT meet their own deadline of July to finish redesigning/fixing the activity feed. But because they knew everyone was anxiously waiting after months and months of supposedly working on the activity feed, and it was all very public and their reputation was at stake, they made big grand Facebook announcements about having released it, and threw some lame last minute tweaked crap out there...when it fact it's STILL not finished and still not functioning properly..not even close. Fake out on everyone.
Now it looks like people are buying and selling workarounds for activity feeds, in addition to having to purchase 3rd party chats, photosliders, fake video feature workarounds, create their own site maps, fake events feature substitutes..so lame... it's like, what the hell is Ning providing for your money at this point? Certainly nowhere near the social networking features of their 2.0 platform, which in my opinion is still worth my money every month. Ning is supposed to provide all these features, and they've wasted a year and a half now while their customers struggle and plead, pay extra, juggle code patches, and jerry-rig substitute measures.
