  • Couple problems in response to the recent additions of the Search and the Chat upgrades.

    For the search I notice that when you enter a search it takes you to a new page which DOES NOT load the header code. This is a MAJOR issue for us who include important information in our header code. Without it many features do not work on my site. Fixing this is very important. I notice its the same thing when you are looking at private messages between users too. I see no reason why the header code isnt loaded.

    For the chat I think some people mentioned already in the comments, we need to see which users are online. The interface is pretty confusing. Is there a way to make more groups? And the chat shouldnt automatically pop up on load. It should pop up once clicked.
    And for the chat on mobile it SHOULD NOT appear just as a small icon in the top. It should be how it was - which allows you to see who is online. Also on mobile when you do click the chat it should open in a new window. Not the same window.
    And I am also confused by the additional menu burger thing within the chat. It doesnt seem like it needs to be there.

    Hopefully some of these issues get resolved, otherwise I will be manually fixing them on my end with css.

    This is my site for those interested in the dynamic interface and how it functions with the recent upgrades.

    • Hi there!

      Thanks for sharing with us your feedback it's really important to know what our customers are thinking about recently implemented functionality.

      Are you sure that you have put the code into the <head> section of the custom code page? If the code that has been put there, it will be shown on all pages. Are you sure that you haven't used below the header add box instead?

      Regarding the chat, yes you can make more groups, just start the chat with one member and add more members into that private chat.

      Could you please specify which additional menus are not clear to you? If you are talking about the menus that are at the top of any chat, they are necessary in order to change the settings in each group and etc.

      The chat would pop-up only if you have left it open when you closed the page last time and it won't pop-up if it was closed during previous session.

      All your other suggestions have been sent to the management. When there will be any information about implementation of them I'll let you know here on creators.

      Best regards,

      Ning Team.

      • Thanks for the reply Ning.
        To specify the code would be the below header box. Oppose to the custom code. But nonetheless - theres no reason that that should be stoped from loading on any page. The fact that the search page and the messages page doesnt load this code just seems pointless. We need to have the same code loaded on every part of our website for consistency please.

        And the menu I was reffering to was the burger menu that appears in mobile within the chat that shows your top bar menu items. I just dont feel like that needs to be there. I may end up having to hide it using css since it will be confusing for people since my menus do not use traditional formatting.

        Does that make sense? Hope to see these changes implemented soon, otherwise Ill have to manually remove the search feature until its working properly.

        And again - please make the chat appear as it did on mobile in the bottom still. Having it at the top just as an icon makes very little practical sense.

        Cheers! Thanks for listening.

        • Hi there!

          I have passed your feedback regarding add boxes on search and messages page to the management, and I'll inform you about their decision here on creators. However, at the same time if you post your code into the <head> section instead of the ad box it will be shown on all the pages.

          If you wish to hide the menu from the chat on mobile version you can use this code:

          .cht-icon {
          display: none;
          }

          And it will be necessary to add it to the custom CSS field in the design studio. But in such case, if your member would decide to leave the chat he/she would have to press the button back several times and I don't think that it's really convenient, so it seems that you would have to add the button that would be able to lead them back to the network itself.

          Regarding the chat icon on top for mobile, some people are asking us to do the opposite at the same time so I think it's more the question of the habits and probably that would stay as it is. Anyway, I have posted this suggestion, and when it will be reviewed by the management I'll let you know about the results.

          Best wishes,

          Ning Team.

          • Normally I would fit all my code into the <head> code but ning currently has a limit on how much code is allowed in. Hense why I have to divide it between the head code (Custom code) and the other head code within the pages edit section. So Im not sure if that is really a solution for me unless you plan to increase the ammount allowed in the custom code section to begin with.

            And if you can provide options for us to customize the layout for the chat icon on mobile that would be ideal, as I understand for some it will be a preference.

            Looking forward to refining things as the project evolves. Thanks Ning.

            • Hi there!

              I have also passed your suggestion regarding the customizable icon for the chat on mobile to our management.

              When there will be any information regarding this functionality I'll let you know.

              Best regards,

              Ning Team.

    • I'm with you 100%.

      Also... when the page loads - the chat at the bottom of the page is just a gray box and does no say Online Chat or anything.

      Thanks

  • Coming along great.

    Looking forward to the next upgrade.

    Any chance we can think about a feature that allows members to create separate pages for their business or services? Sort of like the "Page" feature on Facebook.

    Thank you for your time.

    • Hi there!

      As I see we don't have such feature in the plan at the moment, so I have created the suggestion to add such sort of the functionality and passed it to the management for the review. If they would decide that it's a good idea to make it possible for members of the networks to create separate pages I'll let you know here on creators, or if it's necessary I can send the email to you.

      Regards,

      Ning Team.

    • Technically you could use groups as such as far what we have now.
