Has there been ANY headway made about increasing the number of characters in the Latest Activity feed box from 140? It is so restrictive when adding a comment or an activity update. It would be nice to get it to around 500-1000. Any ideas??

Permalink Reply by John Bizley on January 9, 2012 at 9:47am I agree with this one to, so frustrating having to write two posts to convey a message to the activity feed as the limit stops the message being in one. I think it's only there so post's can feed out to twitter because of its limits now facebook has done away with its one's.

Permalink Reply by Sanjoy on June 18, 2012 at 7:22pm Agreed. The 140 character limit is a common complaint among my users.
Permalink Reply by Thiago Santos de Moraes on June 18, 2012 at 9:41pm I disagree, this limit helps to maintain focus.
Permalink Reply by Jessica Cross on June 29, 2012 at 1:45pm I also agree. It's frustrating.

Permalink Reply by Dan O'Donnell on January 12, 2013 at 11:55pm Call me crazy, but couldn't the limit just apply to posts that people check the "share to twitter box"? Seems pointless to limit ALL posts because of ONE social network's arbitrary limit. What's more important, the experience on our Ning sites, or whether or not hope we get some retweets on what I consider a second-rate social network or "facebook minus most of the features"?
Don't mean to be an a$$, but how many requests do we need to make before Ning figures this out?
Listen to the people who pay you $ every month! At least make it an option!

LOL
I asked the same thing a LONG time ago. If a member clicks the Twitter box, then the limit comes into play. Twitter box NOT checked? Then we are allowed more characters (whatever they decide to increase it to.)
My suggestion didn't set off any "great idea" alarms at the time either. LOL

Permalink Reply by TJ @ jQueryHelp on January 25, 2013 at 2:41am I liked this idea of increasing the number of characters that a member could type in the status update box at the top of the Latest Activity feed, so I wrote an app to do just that! I agree that it would be good if Ning could provide this, but I couldn't wait. :)
If anyone has any comments on this or wants to try it out, come on by!
