I'm not sure if anyone has shared this information here before or not but I just wanted to share a site that offers a truly free Android App that can be instantly created and installed for your network.
I just tested the site AppsGeyser on my website and it works beautifully (has the scan to download barcode & link available for Android users) and it's truly free. There is also a monetize option (50/50 split with them, if you wish to monetize your app -they have to pay for it somehow...lol). Once the Ning Ads go live you will also be able to monetize your site with the new Ning Ads (I'm beta testing the Ning Ads program and the ads do show when the App is installed and running).
A quick note when you sign up choose URL, use your mobile Ning URL (it's already mobile capable) ex: http://www.yoursite.com/m
I installed the App on my Android and it's working beautifully, you can also add your app to Googleplay for only $25.
I have been looking for a Free App and while this isn't an Iphone App, it's at least a good start if you're wishing to take your site to the App market.
I hope this helps and if someone has already posted about this, then I apologize for the duplicate.
nice tip..thanks for taking the time to share this!
No problem at all, I'm glad it can be helpful!
Thats exactly what I did. LOL! :)
what browser did u use cause i just spent 20 minutes trying to get it to accept an icon and get an error every time
The icon has to be the right size, I tried adding one that was off by 3px and it wouldn't accept it.
Additionally, at first I had the issue with it taking the upload so, I just set it up without the icon (using theirs) and then I went back in an edited it afterward and it uploaded on the edit.
ok 1 more issue i used that language changer tip someone posted weeks ago it works perfect on the mobile site but not on the app
any way around that?
www.dreadlockssite.com/m scroll to the bottom of the links and u see change lnguage once changed it should stay changed on every page
but doesn't in the app
I didn't design the app so I really can't answer that question. You may want to contact AppsGeyser.
how long did it take to go live on google play i added it to there then trying to add to the appgeyser market but not lettng me till its on googleplay
and final question if i charge for the app on googplay and add the qv code thingy to download from my su-ite does it charge when u use that too?
These are really questions for AppsGeyser, as like I said previously I did not make the service and only they can answer some of these questions. GooglePlay usually takes a few hours but I'm sure that depends on them and how long it takes them to review the app and add it.
Thanks for this...so I am assuming you did not do anything fancy like adding tabs - you just used the /m tools? And it works well?
More details about what you did would be helpful!
