I've been working quite hard lately on transforming my network into less of an art project and more for businesses networking. And in my findings I'm constantly trying to optimize my CSS files and javascript files for faster loading. However, what worries me is the number of individual CSS files that Ning injects into the site (without combining them) and these files account for the majority of the bulk added to my pages, due to not being combined and optimized. Also the lack of Expires Headers on most of the files served by Ning accounts for slower loading as well.
I'm wondering how other NCs are dealing with this on their networks. Is there some sort of override which will allow me to combine these files and have the combined file served up instead of all the individual files? Shouldn't these files be optimized before being served to our networks??
Are other NCs using a subdomain or separate domain for hosting their CSS and JS files and images and if so, is it performing faster for you that way?
Any feedback you might provide would be very helpful
Hi JFarrow,
What's the url that you're seeing this at? Main page, or somewhere else?
Thanks,
Phil
