* If I set a membership donation amount (say 0.00 to 599.95), can I change it later (to, say 9.95 to 599.95)?
* If I create a member category of, say, those who have contributed $9.95 or more, can i use that as a paywall to reward them with a piece of premium content?
* If some members are assigned to member categories, do they still remain listed in the overall members category?
Thanks!

Yes, you can change the amount of the donation. You can edit a paywall. When you do, you'll see a message like this:
You can put up a paywall around a Page if you want to host premium content on a page.
Members who are part of special categories will be listed with both your regular members and in a separate list for their category if you enable sub-menus on the member page.

I have one remaining uncertainty. I'm thinking of a sliding scale of contribution for members, from 0.00 up to $499.95. And to motivate people to contribute $19.95 or more, I'm thinking of offering an e-book as a reward. Using Member Categories or whatever, is there a way to make the e-book FREE to "Those who have contributed $19.95 up" -- and only them -- which charging the retail price to everyone else?
I really appreciate your help. I think Paid Access could really ROCK. I've already had some success with it on one of my Ning sites.

You would have to set this up so that higher paying members get identified via a special category, and then you would have to send that content to the manually, I think.
