I've thought about this one myself. I have seen how often and in what context people use the Facebook Like button, I'm just not convinced that people will use such a button very often. Actually, one thing that I think might be important is to try and identify a service that has done something like this. It might seem weird to Like single comments and have it be out of context on a Facebook feed. Don't you think? I'm honestly curious if anyone has seen a service that works in this way and lets you Facebook Like replies in discussions or topics?
Permalink Reply by Sandra on October 31, 2012 at 9:48pm Hi Eric,
yes you're right. We thought of the "like" button as an alternative to polldaddy. We want to start contests and most of our users are active on facebook...So we only need this service to make contests between designers. Maybe we have to activate the network "like" button again :/ But two "Like" buttons are confusing...than we have to change erverything in the language editor, too. I think that isn't good. In this case we would like the facebook "Like" (we will reach more new readers and members in this way, too). Or every member have to add an own blogpost and we have to categorize it in "christmas contest" or something else...hm, don't know yet.
Permalink Reply by Eric Suesz on October 31, 2012 at 9:56pm I totally get what you want, I think. You want ranked voting. We could maybe build that using the Network Like, although we would need to build in analytics (a way to view and make use of that data of liking). And, I'm sure that everyone would want a way to promote the most liked replies. I know some forum software has that. I hope we can get there because I know it is a very compelling idea.
