There are now 3 versions of this code.
Notes: #1 taking the least amount of space in Custom Code Box, and #3 taking the most space (but offers the most features):
What Will This Code Do For Your Network?

It took some careful thought to create this tip, like would it affect any other code, etc...Please let me know if this causes any issues.
A special thanks to Elson for adding the code for notifications, and thank you Elliott for helping out with the icons.
I hope you all enjoy this tip! See it live on JenSocial.com.

Permalink Reply by MAXX on July 2, 2012 at 6:49pm Without going thru all the pages, is there code that can be removed from #3 to KEEP the account box on the main page?
Permalink Reply by Michael Goebel on July 4, 2012 at 4:47am Hi Jen!
That is EXCELLENT - and something I have agonised over for ages. Thankyou so much!
BUT I have what will probably be a stupid question;
I have inserted the code (#3, the one with all the stuff) into Custom Code (no, not the one in Design Studio) and yes, it works for logged IN members, but it still leaves the account box showing to visitors who are not logged in. You can see it HERE: www.hitomi.ning.com
btw I have no other code in custom CSS to do with the NingBar...
Can you help me ? I am REALLY looking forward to finding out where I went wrong!!!

Hi Michael,
I think we did that intentionally, so potential new members will see a large box for joining your site. If you want to remove from signed out visitors use this code:
REPLACE
.account-links { display:none!important; }
WITH
#xg_module_account { display:none!important; }
Best Regards,
Jen

Remove the first li and first span for the separator after the Inbox link:
<li class="ningbarlink"><a href="/profiles/message/listInbox"><img alt="Inbox" src="http://api.ning.com:80/files/UNKbObYJPtqfg2aS-dgvbW4oXlCd3U5WkjJEpeoMl6C5xN35tcqAFoslfCJEsXpcbF8P6-Xxn4I50nhLef7ns4MKoyX6OGm7/nb_mail.png">Inbox</a></li>' + '<span class="lsep">|</span>'
+ '
Best Regards,
Jen
Very nice. Thanks for sharing this, folks. Will be checking out your Jensocial.com! (And I'm with those who have no problem with you reminding us of that in a discussion where you've shared something so useful - you're one of the most generous here - it's not like you're starting discussions as advertising fer Pete's sake and cryin' out loud.)
