Hi all
I'm fairly new to Ning, I inherited our site from my predecessor, who designed it & set it up. I may have missed something in the setup, but a fairly extensive hunt around has not unearthed any solution to my question!
Is there a way to add text above the window in the chat room? I want to include a message to let people know the times of our regular chats (we have weekly times we fun facilitated chat sessions), but I can't work out how to add a message.
Any help would be much appreciated!

The code above is set to work with networks who have inserted a separate jQuery libary. If you haven't done anything re: this javascript library. Here is the updated code which uses Ning's:

It means that I can only chat when I stay in the chat tab. It's a little bit confused when your member reading contents while chatting. Can you help me to solve the problem? Thank you.

You're welcome Tuan, Yes, apparently this will only appear on the Chat tab and if you place your chat module above the footer (content body). Hope this helps.

<script> $('.xg_chat').prepend('<div class="dy-ning-msg">Chat times: 9:00AM to 5:00PM, Mondays to Fridays</div>'); </script>
Nothing Happens.
Permalink Reply by mobile.ning.com on June 22, 2012 at 6:26pm I see. I think you're not using a separate jQuery library, then just insert an x before the dollar sign in the code. Like this..
x$('.xg_chat..
THIS SOLVES the problem. Thanks

sure thing social, glad it works now.

Hi social.ning,
try inserting the character 'x' before the dollar sign ($) above like this:
<script> x$('.xg_chat...
or see my updated code above.
None of the options work for me. Is it because I'm using the old design studio?

Hi Hugh,
Yes, that could be an issue. This also works only on the new (HTML5) version of chat. What is your network url/address?

Another method is to alter Language Editor.

Yes, that's a good alternative method and I see that it is limited. So the objective and solution is to place it on top with code insertion.
thanks for this Kos.
