Hi all

I'm fairly new to Ning, I inherited our site from my predecessor, who designed it & set it up. I may have missed something in the setup, but a fairly extensive hunt around has not unearthed any solution to my question!

Is there a way to add text above the window in the chat room? I want to include a message to let people know the times of our regular chats (we have weekly times we fun facilitated chat sessions), but I can't work out how to add a message.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi Laura,

Try adding the code attached in your Custom Code box (My Network > Custom Code). This should give you the result as screen cap here:

Change the text with your own message. Hope that helps.

Hi Ron

Thanks so much, that's perfect! Exactly what I was after.

Many thanks!

you're welcome Laura, glad that works for you.

good day.

This is really a brilliant tip, Ron. Thank you!

Thanks Eric :-) glad you like this tip as well. I could re-post this for reference to other NCs

Hey Doc, here it is and it's under Attachments on my reply above.

Wow!  I was looking for a way to do that last night!  I simply copied and pasted it into custom code (which is blank to start) and nothing happens.  I'm really new to this - am I doing something wrong?

Hi Betsy,

I see. I think you're not using a separate jQuery library, then just insert an x before the dollar sign in the code. Like this..

x$('.xg_chat..

I will post an updated code here.

Ron!  Thank you so very much!  This worked perfectly!

you're welcome Betsy :-)

Hello Ron, i tried this but didn't achieve results. what may have gone wrong ?

Hi Paulo, nothing's wrong, just a compatibility thing. See my updated code and guide below.
