I would like to be able to add my own shortening service, I use bit.ly and I have a branded url shortener. Is that a feature that could see anytime soon?

That way we have also the benefits of monitoring our shortened urls

Please Ning give me a reply!

Thanks

You could use the Firefox add-on. No?
This is kinda cool Thunder X. Wouldn't that require all the members to have that as well if the point of Short URLs is to have a shorter link for users to use?

This may sound like a dumb question but I am not being a smart... you know.
LOL No, you're right. I assumed everyone uses FF, which is ironic since I am using Chrome right now. But I think all of the major browsers have a url shortener add-on. Chrome does.
LMBO!

Now that is a move I would make!

As a technologist, I don't install additional plug-in on my browsers, other than Flash of course, so I would never be able to utilize the advantage of Tiny URLs with this solution. That also would not bother me as a member either so it's kind of a six of one, half a dozen of another type of thing I think. Either way just something to think about in the implementation of browser plug-ins.
Understood. I'm a plug-in maniac myself. Sometimes I have to remind myself to uninstall plug-ins and add-ons I've installed only to see what they do and how they work. Heh.
That just gives me chills to think about. lol
LOL
Hey Spyro!

We're actually using bit.ly Pro now as well, and this is a feature we'd like to offer down the road. Probably when we get to making another round of improvements to the Status feature.

Great to know Evan, Thanks.

By the way I did respond to your response on my help ticket and would be more than happy to take care of your request for you when you have the time to respond. I know your slammed!

Thanks again!
this is good to know... i know you're probably very busy guys, but giving some flexibility to your platform would make it very powerful. now it is so fixed and you can't go far with imagination.

I really wanna use my own branded shortener, bring it on!!

cheers
well, everyone else does it, i dont see why Ning wouldn't. If i can use my own bit.ly account, then I can use my branded url shortener that i have with bit.ly !
Hey Caroline,

In fact, that's exactly what I meant :)

We'd love to bring branded URL shorteners, it's just not on the roadmap quite yet.
