How do I add a pdf file to my site?
Sometimes I received attached PDF files in my email and I don't know how to then add them on to my site.
Thanks everyone,
Trish

Hi Trish,
You can just use the built-in file uploader. It will automatically provide link(s) to your PDF files when using pages or forum post.
Hope this helps.

I want to add the pdf file that was sent to me in my blog - I downloaded the pdf file to my desk top but how do I get it onto the blog?? I don't see an uploader?

Hi Trish,
As Benny said below, it's that clip icon button that you see on top of the text area (editor) when your typing in your blog content.
You could add a page and list those PDF from there. In the editor you can find an icon of a paper clip, that is the one that uploads files.

Benny

What do you mean by "in the editor" - where is the editor on the blog page?
I have downloaded the pdf to my desk top but still don't have a clue what to do next?

Hi Trish,
I suppose you own a Ning community?
You know how to write a Ning blog? If you do that, a box is appearing where you write in. This is the editor. On top of the editor there is a little menu that lets you format your text (font size and so on). And right on top of this menu should be a little remark saying "Add" (not sure if exactly this because mine is in German), followed by five little icons. The last one is a paper clip. Clicking there opens an upload file dialog and lets you upload the file to Ning.
By the way: if you answer my message there is the same function, but this time with a link beyond the editor saying "Upload Files". That is in principal the same.
In case you don't know, tell me then I'll get you through this also...
Regards,
Benny
Permalink Reply by Trish White on March 24, 2012 at 2:29pm Aaaaaaaah, thank youuu Benny for the enlightenment,
Much of the computer jargon I am not use to - now I know what "editor" is - and I did see the paper clip and it worked!!!! now what i just found happened is that I opened a blog which listed a pdf - I opened the pdf and wanted to add it to my web site, but I did not know how?? any thoughts?
Thanks,
Trish
What do you mean with "listed a pdf"?
You cannot integrate a pdf so that the text will be seen on the screen. Your users will have to download the file. Actually, pdf was developed to prevent this. Nevertheless it is possible to extract the text, but then you will loose the formatting.
Is that your problem?

Benny

I have used the paperclip to upload some files in a Blog and it worked great creating a link. Now when I go back to that Blog to edit it, the paperclip is grayed out so I cannot upload any more files. Can you or anyone else help with this?
Thanks,
Jerome
Permalink Reply by Trish White on March 29, 2012 at 7:58am Thanks a bunch,
I have used the clip button and it works great - what I also realized on some of the pdf files that I wanted to download, is that some are not permitted- and that is also where I ran into trouble.
Phew! get the hang of it all now.
Grateful,
Trish

How does a member add a badge from my site to their web site?
How do I find out how many people are viewing my site each day?
Thanks,
Trish
