animated you've got mail notification

helpseekrr requested a animated notification to allert you of new mail, she requested 1 with sound etc but that would require a flash object

she asked this on 1 of my css animation tips however because of how this was done i decided to go with a traditinal animated gif instead

using the language editor find

<span %1$s>%2$s</span> new

(english version for non english translate the word new or just search for everythung but new)

replace it all with

<span %1$s>%2$s</span> <img src="http://api.ning.com:80/files/d4Ril5vezVJfKtPBnlbGEOCXTmtAwFBEm5XsFaUebFIjNDOnN3ibbjNhesZCpnGXOdMTNntVer65mNHRWtQdAjUgGgnOzxJM/youvegotmail.gif" width="44" height="33" />

now wait for mail and see how it looks

Two of my Admins are able to see the icon, but one other Admin as well a myself are not able to - and all four of us have the site theme, therefore THAT is not the problem.  But no problems, I am not going to fuss, I am sure it will appear in the future.

Ho soaringeagle,

I noticed in your original post that you had been asked to make a sound indicator.  I had a similar situation in my Instant Messenger app that I made for Ning.  There was a need for a sound when a new IM came in.  I found my solution here: http://www.schillmania.com/projects/soundmanager2/

I thought I'd mention that in case you decide to add a sound feature to your alert.  It has worked well for me.
