Hey Everyone,
I keep getting bogus sign ups (thank god there is a moderator) for a network I created that is from a 163.com domain. Always vulgar photos etc. and it's a youth site for a non profit!!! SICK!
In any case can Ning block this domain altogether?
THANKS!

Permalink Reply by Robin on March 13, 2012 at 9:46am Awesome thanks! I wonder if it will work w/ Ning hosted b/c it works via DNS but I will try it out.
Permalink Reply by Arnold Burian on March 13, 2012 at 6:46pm I've been using Cloudflare with my Ning site for about six months. No problems.
Permalink Reply by Starrfire Price on September 10, 2012 at 10:49am I'm using them as well, I have had them for about 9 months and it's a great service. They block most known spammers from even accessing your site, it's cut down a lot on my spammer issues. Another thing that can help the OP is to make sure and set your site to Member Controls to Require Email validation, captcha & answer the quiz question as well. Dashboard > Members > Controls.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having to deal with spam. It's not possible to block certain domains from signing up at this time, but I've added your vote to the feature request.
I see that you're taking advantage of member moderation, which is the one of the features that allows you to best prevent spam. You might want to consider turning on email verification too. You've come across fewer than 10 spammers in the past few months, so you're doing a great job of keeping spammers out. Keep up the good work!

I had no choice but to close out memberships from people I do not know personally. Which is not much lol, from those who wanted to be on the site. I have taken Arnold's advice and I joined cloudflare.com and I shall see how and if it works.
Permalink Reply by Michael Thompson on September 8, 2012 at 3:42pm I have been getting spammers from moviecouchpotato.com addresses on both of my networks lately as well.
Permalink Reply by Baller on September 8, 2012 at 4:30pm Me too.. but i moderate my members but I still get like five a day for the last two weeks.
Permalink Reply by Michael Thompson on September 8, 2012 at 5:52pm I moderate and don't approve them either, but it still gets annoying to get their membership requests.
Permalink Reply by Tome Wilson on September 7, 2012 at 6:56pm I don't mind cloudflare, but I'd rather not have to add another widget onto my website. It's slow enough as is.
Is there any way we can get this firewall update made soon? I'm getting spammed hard by these bots and it's become highly annoying.
