Any way to make the photo slideshow random?

I have a photo slide show on the main page. Is there any way to make it show the pics randomly instead of the same order every single time??

I have no option for "Random" in the choices. The slideshow is made up of "Featured" photos and they appear in the exact same order every time. I'd like them to be mixed up.

All i have is a box to click "Loop".

Thanks Jen, but that won't work for me, unfortunately. I'm only running 35 FEATURED pictures. They fit a theme, so I don't want ALL the pictures, just the one's I've featured. And, I want the FEATURED ones to appear in random order. But obviously, that's not an option.

Oh well...

even regular random has never worked right, for 2 years, but hey - look on the bright side - we do have ning gifts! ;)

Random featured would be great. Anything that helps keep it fresh.

Random by itself would be a disaster anyway, as you have no control of what people put up unless you moderate all photos, which is kind of a buzzkill for everyone. Even then, its hard to explain to someone why 25 pictures of their ugly kid have to be deleted because its not appropriate on the front page of your niche interest site. Much easier just not to feature them.

I have just started running into this as one of my members does not like her picture always being first when the slideshow is set to "random." True randomization can't be that hard of a change/fix. For now, "random" is definitely not random.

I agree with j. wings, NING should shore up some of the issues on the site before adding new features and gimmicks, especially if we'll all pay for NING in the near future. I can understand features not working as designed or intended while using a free network, but if we have to pay they should work.

I know it is a buzzkill since I recently got a lot of pics to approve on my site, but I do moderate every pic that is submitted.
I have my pics set on "random loop" as well and they seem quite random to me. However, the more pics someone has loaded, the more chance for their pic to show up--or even show up first.
Random "Featured" pics would be nice though. The Featured pics will always show up by the last pic you featured as the first pic to be shown on your player in a decending order.
If you want the featured pics to show up in a different order, you have to go through your list and unfeature each pic and refeature them in a different order and that I know is a royal pain.

This can't be hard to do .............

 

My only option is to actually copy/upload the photos to Picasa and use their widget. Time consuming.

BUMP. I am very interested in this... It seems to have been broken for a long time.

I have a gallery of about 700 member photos, and I would like users to be able to browse them ALL, but in random order. I choose "Random" from the display drop-down and it always shows the same photos on the first page even when I refresh or click onto the page from somewhere else. Even when I sort by "Featured" and then put it back to "Random," it's those same photos.

Random display works just fine for Featured Member PROFILES, but not Photos. Why is that?

It is an obvious bug that is affecting many communities across different categories. Please provide us with a timeline for a fix!
