I'm not positive where you are in the process...or even if you still need help. DFP SB is NOT easy to set up with Ning...I was incredibly frustrated when I first tried...and I set up 30-50 sites with DFP SB every year (or thereabouts).
If the issue is that you are getting a message that you "don't have enough inventory"...just tick the box and tell it to proceed. It takes a couple of weeks for DFP to "learn" your inventory...it's not automatic.
You don't actually forecast inventory when setting up your line items...all you actually have to do is save. Google does a horrible job of actually helping us use their products...it's a real shame...though it has created quite a demand for me in my consulting! ;-)
Hope that helps somewhat...

Permalink Reply by James Higginson on December 3, 2012 at 4:05am Where are you meant to put the code, there are two chunks of code so I assume one goes in custom code and the smaller one in the text box where you want the ad to appear. Both bits of code are specific to the location. So I'll be adding both chunks for all different placements, is that right? ie lots more code in the custom code box?

I'm using Google DFP since two years now. And it rocks!
If you have issue with code placement, maybe could you go to my network http://www.voile-rc.com and see sources to find it. If you have precise questions, don't hesitate...

I just shoved all the code into the same box and it works fine. I do like it, although getting used to the naming of line items/placements etc is a bit confusing!

Permalink Reply by Pierre Lannoy on December 4, 2012 at 2:48am Hi James.
Based on my own "slots" nomenclature, the CTR and revenues for adsense (subtitution campaigns) are :
A > D > B > C > E
for paid campaigns CTR are :
A > D > B > C > E
but revenues are :
B > A > C > D > E
This is certainly due to the structure of my offer, which means that many advertisers prefer slot B...
Hope it helps!

Permalink Reply by Pierre Lannoy on December 4, 2012 at 4:46am Yes, James, I'm based in France.
My main network ( http://www.voile-rc.com ) is in French, but we started a few weeks ago the English version of Voile-RC : http://en.voile-rc.com
Permalink Reply by Ed on December 4, 2012 at 3:42am I gave up several times with dfp but then one day you look at it and it clicks. from there on it's actually not as complicated as it first appears. I don't serve a huge number of ads though and most of the ones that I do are House ads.

Yes I am finding that, one of the main things about it is that it is stable, I've had broken links with other ad servers, not with DFP though. Very solid
Permalink Reply by James Higginson on December 4, 2012 at 4:40am No issue any longer, it's working fine now.
Thanks
