Hi there,

one of my members added a video from Google Video - BBC - The Life of Buddha - because he took part to realize the sound track for this video.

The result is curious ... the EMBED code doesn't work.

So I checked out the HTML and saw that the string:

src=http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docid=674137804682825856&hl=de&fs=true style=width:400px;height:326px allowFullScreen=true allowScriptAccess=always type=application/x-shockwave-flash

had no "..."

... so i added this and I could add the video to my network

My question is now: Do Ning not support Videos from Google or has this HTML a bug and I have to report it on Google? I post it here because in a normal website the orginal HTML Code works.

What to do?

have you added the orginal HTML code as a reply ... then you have seen it doesn't work
Hi Jens,

It looks like Google is not longer wrapping the parameter values in quotation marks, and this is confusing our parser. I've filed this and hopefully we can push out a quick fix.
Hi Phil,

thanks. I think the same that Google is not longer wrapping the parameter values in quotation marks.
Hi Phil, can this be added manually when pasting the link or is this issue the google end of things? If its possibe to edit the NING end where do the quotations go? Its March 2010 and NING have not fixed the issue and it would be good to link to Google Videos again.

Thanks
Steve
I just stumbled onto this myself. I guess everyone uses YouTube nowadays. I added the quotation marks but the video is really small, even though the dimensions say 400 x 326. Weird.
Yes, it is really a pity, that Google Videos are not supported. I have to ask my members to add the quotation marks in the Video URL of the embed code - but the video is so small as the one above.
Has anyone found an answer to the Google video size? I have experimented with the quotes, but keep ending up with a very small version of the video. The Google videos are longer in duration and easier to post. They may even take up less NING disk space? It would be good to get a resolve to this issue. My site is http://2012armageddonnwo.ning.com/ if anyone finds a solution, please could you contact me. We are paying top prices for the new NING services plans and it would be good to receive a service that is relative to what we are paying out. Come on NING team sort this one out, this fault has been going on for months. :o(
Not everyone Tony... as there are lots on videos on Video.Google.com not available on YouTube. Many Google videos are between 1&2 hours long (documentaries). Full length footage, not just 10 minutes of chopped up footage.

This is the code you need to be able to embed Google Videos.

Simply replace the numbers underlined below with the ones on the video you want to embed. Be sure to remove the underlining before pasting.

See attached Word file.

Phil,

This has been happening with Google videos for months, probably 12 months or more. I have reported it on several occasions but with nothing forthcoming. The NING parser deletes Google embed code even with quotation marks. I have tried all kinds of rearranging the code, even tried to mimic YouTube code, but to no avail.

An early fix would be really appreciated as there are lots of Google videos I would like to add to our network, which are not on YouTube. We need this sorted!
