Permalink Reply by Skye on July 10, 2011 at 8:42pm Oracle I personally make sure they put up a real picture, and fairly detailed profile questions. I have yet to have one of the spammers that leave a message in the comment box stating they saw my profile and want to be friends,LoL. Thankfully I only have had one incident, stated previously. I do agree that links and IP don't work too well the best way is to be diligent, when someone goes into a group and invites (make sure all your admin join each group),or sends messages of a invite to their friends list without permission, or leaves a comment of a invite these are all things that can be caught by Admins., activity list, feedjit etc...
Permalink Reply by Apostle Solael on July 10, 2011 at 9:27pm Thank you, and I have been blessed with the fact of no spammers, for the exception of one. That one individual came to my site (when I first began my own sites), from a networking site, where that type of action is permitted. And that is also how I got into trouble, thinking that it was always permitted (until I learned otherwise). However, I told him that I would list a tab for his business venture, and it worked out better that way. He would spam all of his friends list, in which I would receive the message also.
If you belong to a Ning Networking site, then it is permissible, but for the site that I have now, it is not. That is why I give my members every chance they can, by featuring their links on their profile page (when they join, I ask them their URL address that they would like to share, and I feature it, and it appears under their profile picture as well as on their page), and when they join, I also join their sites, and add their badges to my Sister Site page. I find that many of my members join these featured sites, and I have absolutely no fear of losing them, because if they are really happy, they will not just stay on my site, but become a member and stay as a member on the new site as well.
My members know, that the sites that I have listed as Sister Sites (even some pagan sites), I am also a member of, and I tell them that if I am safe, then they are safe. If any negative actions occurs to me, then I remove the site from my Sister site page, because that same type of action, may occur with any of my members who join as well.
I have never lost a member, and I also gain members. It always works out for the best, for selfishness spreads disease.

Permalink Reply by Apostle Solael on July 10, 2011 at 9:37pm I truly believe, that it will stop spamming, for they are allowed to list their sites and their badges, no matter if it is Ning or not (therefore, there is no need to send a message asking if you would like to join their site). If they do not have a badge, then I let them post banners on the Sister Site page (without a html code), which will slow down the network.
I find myself reading the links, and immediately wanting to join, just to see what the new member is doing, and what their site is all about. I actually enjoy it. It has been a true blessing. Even the sites that appear dark, have brought wonderful loving members to my site, in which I truly enjoy them, and since I do, their badges are also listed. That is why judgment and condemnation is not allowed on my site, and neither is drama, and all members are to read my Site Rules pages as well, stating such facts. I have a wonderful loving site, and it brings me joy daily, with smiles and giggles! :o)
Blessings..
Permalink Reply by Skye on July 10, 2011 at 9:43pm As you know we tend to be a bit on the yin side of yang, but with love and we have a wonderful group of people which does the same for me, just fun and good discussions and meeting friends. I refuse to discuss names on here as I feel this is not professional or prudent but overall we have had very little issues for the size of my community.
Such a blessing.
Permalink Reply by Apostle Solael on July 10, 2011 at 9:46pm I understand, that is why I did not join in the conversations of bashing. That is what brings down a site, and I will not allow it.
Many blessings unto you Persephone, and I will speak to you later.
