can i remove the xg_header ?

On my site, just below the menu bar... there is a gray div that fades out into the background color.

How can i get rid of this ?

It looks like you are using inner canvas background. Go to advanced css> customize>general>canvas background>inner and change it to transparent. Give this a try.

if your using the same theme as i think your using try this code....xg_theme #xg_masthead{background:#fff} thats for your masthead....take out #fff and use transparent..

this code or script is for the out side borders.....

.xg_theme #xg_body {
padding: 0 0 0;
}

You are using the newspress theme and I believe it is either the inner or outer canvas background image in the design studio. Just delete the image and set the colour accordingly.
