Hello All,
I'm tying to do something I think should be pretty simple but am getting very frustrated. I'm trying to change the message in the welcome e-mail new members receive. I'm in language editor, I clicked on edit English, I searched on "welcome e-mail" and got back dozens of fields with text and variables in them. I tried changing something, saved it and nothing seemed to happen. I just want to change the message. Isn't there a simple way to do this?? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks very much for your post. I had actually read that exact article last night. That's how I learned about the Language Editor feature. But I felt the article stopped short. Maybe I'm just not very bright (at least about these things) but it seems odd this is so difficult. Why all the different fields and string variables? I just want to write the text that a new member will see when they get the welcome e-mail. What's the simplest way to do that?
Thanks
Jack

It's extremely flexible for people who want a lot of flexibility, but I can understand that it's not easy and intuitive for small changes. We haven't built an interface that is devoted to changing the welcome message, but I can see how that would be very convenient and useful.
I would recommend this approach:

Permalink Reply by Jack on July 24, 2012 at 7:04pm Hi Eric . . . I think I finally have this worked out. One question: Once I change the language for the welcome e-mail how do I test it? How can I send myself a test e-mail to be sure it's the way I want it before setting it for new members to see it?
Tks
Jack
