your question should be more specific. do you mean to say you want to use your own purchased domain, or you want to change your ning url. and what possible negative effect could a url be having on your network? what does that mean?
the website im refering to is called

howmanymanutdfans.ning.com

i want to change it, but im going to run a competition on the BBC 606 forums to decide the name.
yes. the name is far too long. no one wants to spend all of their time on the internet typing in urls, and you want something that's easy to remember. but yes, ning will have to change it, if it's possible. likely you may have to start a new network with your new url, start from scratch.

good luck
that's not what he was talking about anna, otherwise i'd have told him. he wants to change his ning url, not use his own domain name. i asked him and he clarified what he wants to do, i.e. change his url from howmanymanutdfans.ning.com to somenewurl(dot)ning(dot)com. like i said, ning would have to do it if it's possible at all.
Hi!

It isn't possible to change the subdomain of a Ning Network. You can use your own domain, or create a second Ning Network and keep the first for testing!

Laura
i figured as much. cheers laura. =)
