Hello again Creators! Hope all is well!
I am chatting on my network, and something I have noticed, is the time that pops up, in the messages list.
I've been paying close attention to this, and my suspicion is, that time is displayed when the other person you're talking to, views the chat message. (probably tracks this by noticing when the other person is typing in the "message_input."
Am I correct in my observation? Ning?
If this is true, is it possible to add "Seen at" to the time message?
So members would see "Seen at 10:45pm"
If this is possible, is it possible to have a script that will notify the members the other is typing? I know that's a lot like facebook, and it's also probably not possible due to the fact that the code would likely be "always watching" causing a huge server load. Right?
Just curious. I'd really like to to get to the bottom of the time display thing though, and add "seen at" to it. :)
Thanks everyone! Take care!
You got me curious and I tried it. No, the time is posted when the chat has been idle for a bit (about 1.5 mins in my test), and the time posted is the time the last message was sent.
I would also like to be able to tell when someone else is typing in the chat, but I suspect it would take a fair amount of coding.
