Hello,
Does anyone has tried this new chat? I'd love to have some feedbacks.
When you implement it how do you remove the actual chat?
Thank you

Permalink Reply by Anant Garg on December 7, 2012 at 3:35am Hello,
We have resolved the sound issue and added popout feature for chatrooms!
CometChat Cloud is still in beta and we are constantly adding new features.
I urge everyone to try CometChat for NING and see for yourself:
http://ning.cometchatcloud.com
We have new features like audio/video chat, writeboard, hand-writing, file sharing, document sharing, announcements, games and a lot more!
First 14-days are absolutely free and you can cancel anytime. There are no long-term contracts either. Our plans start at just $9/mo.
If you have any queries or feedback, feel free to email us at help@cometchatcloud.com
Permalink Reply by Anant Garg on December 7, 2012 at 10:09pm Hello Chloe,
Am going to try and answer all your questions-
The sound patch has been pushed. Once you change the setting, it takes about a minute to propagate. The popout feature has been added to chatrooms. You can clear your browser cache to see this.
By beta, we do not mean that we are offering an untested or beta plugin. It only means that we are trying to tailor CometChat Cloud specifically for Ning. Without critical feedback from customers like you, we will not be able to tune this to your liking. We can only learn about what customers want from a chat solution from long-term Ning customers like you. You know the beat of your community and you know exactly what works and what does not.
We are receiving a lot of requests, and trying to implement as many as possible. We are releasing updates every week now so that the product meets most Ning customers' expectations. All in all, you are not paying for our R&D; we have already done that. You are paying only to make CometChat Cloud a product you'd use. We are making sure we can meet your needs!
I understand your concerns about the pricing. We are still working out these numbers to see what would be a best fit. If we revise the pricing, you will automatically be charged that value henceforth. We have a lot of feedback on this and we need to see what works best after we put in the business numbers. But I appreciate your detailed feedback on how much you are willing to pay for a service like ours.
Regarding features, multiple chatrooms is not the only feature you get with CometChat. The product includes features like audio/video chat, handwriting, mobile webapp, file sharing, document sharing and more. I do not wish to compare with the existing Ning chat, but you can check these features out for yourself.
Features like moderation, adding your own custom tray icons, ability to change sound etc. are already in the works and will be rolled out shortly. We aim at providing out-of-the-box extensively tested features than a bunch of half-working features. And we have only launched 2 weeks ago! Within a couple of weeks, most of your feature requests will be addressed.
Please feel free to email us at help@cometchatcloud.com if you have any other queries and we would be happy to answer them for you.
Permalink Reply by Joan on December 7, 2012 at 12:46pm We still can't get CometChat to work! Chat just keeps loading and reloading! Tried different browsers IE and Firefox. Tried with Ning chat enabled and disabled. Makes no difference. Luckily we're only just building our paid access site. But it makes us nervous about any future improvements Comet might make. Will they work? We're just waiting for Comet to sort it out - they said 8-14 hours to fix it.
