Hello,
Does anyone has tried this new chat? I'd love to have some feedbacks.
When you implement it how do you remove the actual chat?
Thank you

Permalink Reply by Anant Garg on December 11, 2012 at 10:32pm Simply login to your account, set your domain and click on the manage link. You can then login to your CometChat Admin Panel and use the "Add CometChat" tab to generate the code you need to add to your site.
Permalink Reply by Damien Hannah on December 19, 2012 at 11:46pm Ok, so I am now using Cometchat on my network. I'm actually quite impressed, I was a little weary at first, but honestly, it seems to be working nicely, it's well integrated, and it is just packed with stuff! Great job cometchat.
a few things to consider. I have just had a "member" online, that doesn't exist. Name was "Tigger." No profile, no profile photo, no anything. I searched "Tigger" in my network while they were still "online" and nothing showed. This is very alarming to me and I think it needs to be addressed immediately. I don't know how to give you any information on the matter, other than please check your servers log Cometchat, for my account. If you see the word "Tigger" as a user on Addictapic chat, there's your spammer/hacker/whatever that was.
2) it would be great to allow for RSS feed option in the tray. Disable option too of course. Maybe a "scrolling announcement" option that will display announcements scrolling in the empty tray space. Just an idea for you. :)
My review of this chatbar is simple. AWESOME.
Seems they update it very frequently, and more stuff is coming maybe as soon as next week! Very exciting, and my members absolutely love it! I played a game of darts with one of my old timers (pro photographer) and he whooped my butt! He was very happy to have been able to have that pleasure! Ha ha ha.
Very fun, incredibly useful, very versatile and so very well integrated into Ning, with more to come.
I'm quite impressed, actually. Valuable addition, as I can now literally show my members how to do something via screenshare! LOVE IT!! Thank you for putting the time in to integrate with Ning Cometchat, two thumbs way up.
(please have a look for "Tigger" in my account records, you may have a bump in the road there...)
Permalink Reply by Anant Garg on December 20, 2012 at 4:31am Hello,
Thank you for your review. I have asked the team to look into the "Tigger" issue. We will be emailing you directly within 1-2 business days. To ensure security, we use separate databases for every customer.
Thank you for your RSS suggestion and scrolling. I have added it to our list of feature requests.
Am glad you like our features and we hope to constantly keep adding new features to keep your users glued to your site for hours!
Happy CometChatting!
Warm Regards,
Anant
Permalink Reply by Damien Hannah on December 20, 2012 at 12:38pm Excellent, thank you so much Anant! That "Tigger" issue is my only "issue" so far.
I've had to delay your chat bar loading, so it doesn't conflict with some jquery tabs on my homepage, but that's not a problem on your end, I have fixed it as I require.
I have a few more ideas, I'm full of them, so I'll likely be shooting you a lot of ideas for cometchat. :)
My members and I would truly love to see a leaderboard system for the games. An icon could be added to the tray called "Standings" or "Leaderboard" and you can reference games you've played with your friends. You could see that a long standing challenge in pool has been going on between two members, and they can follow along and interact with the games/"tournament."
another idea is a "watch" or "observe" option. This should be available for games (watch a two player game that two other members are playing) Video chat (members could broadcast a weekly tutorial/video blog, and other members could "observe" sort of like a webinar, or presentation. Maybe even with collaborative documents, but I haven't explored that very much just yet.
The ability to broadcast my screen to all of my members is also something that would be incredibly useful. A lot like screensharing, but in a mass, so that if I have a new feature that my members may need help learning, I can organize a tutorial event, and my members can all tune in and watch how I do it, while being able to chat/audio chat questions and get answers. The customer service we could then provide on our networks would be second to none, and you will have given us that power.
Seems to me CometChat is a HUGE upgrade to an already STELLAR service (Ning)
If the observe function could be added, you could also include "invite to watch" and members who have discovered a good game to watch between two other members, he could invite other members/friends to join in and watch.
I'll have more ideas for you in the very near future.
Amazing service/product/enhancement/upgrade.
So satisfied so far, and so are my members. Not one complaint as of yet, and the social interactivity has raised on my network.
Thank you CometChat!!
Permalink Reply by Damien Hannah on December 20, 2012 at 12:53pm I also can not seem to get the twitter or facebook tray options to work. Do have some advice in that department? Thanks
Permalink Reply by Damien Hannah on December 20, 2012 at 3:07pm So in my venture to add CometChat to my store website, to provide even further abilities, I have found a small glitch.
I have Twitter enabled on my tray on my network, but it is not showing.
I was successful in getting the chat bar to load on my store website, however it doesn't work because it requires my network logins. What I DID notice, is the twitter shows on the tray!!
So it should be showing in my network, but it isn't. CometChat, this one's for you! :)
Also, is there a way I can have my chatbar "remember" my users? So that when they visit the store website, they will remain logged into that chat via my network? Thanks.
Permalink Reply by Damien Hannah on December 20, 2012 at 3:10pm or maybe a new feature you could include would be multiple domain chat... so if I've paid for your service, I can put the chat bar on all websites that are related to my main website, therefore my two .com addresses will be tied into one via the chat.
This would be amazing without a doubt.
Permalink Reply by Damien Hannah on December 20, 2012 at 1:05pm I'm also curious if CometChat from my network can be embedded on another site I own. (Store attached to my network.) This will further connect my two services, and I can be on Addictapic teaching store owners how to design their products. As my store and my network go hand in hand, I would love for this ability, and so would my members. So, can I do something like this, but for CometChat? Thank you.

Permalink Reply by J.Wings on December 23, 2012 at 9:18pm So far so good, with a few things it seems all my users want:
1) the ability to block users from messaging them or viewing them (as in if someone becomes a nuisance)
2) the ability to turn off cams in the cam dock of the chat room. Basically there might be 8 people in a chat but I only want to see the main speakers, or the ones that are my friends, not everyone in the entire room. You can mute audio now, but not "mute" a cam. Ideally, in the chat room you should just be able to see which viewers have a cam on and add them 1 by 1 to your cam dock.
Permalink Reply by J.Wings on December 24, 2012 at 9:32am Also, each time you open the tokbox dock, wheter its in a 1-1 chat or a chat room, it seems to overwrite the instance you already have opened. It would be nice to be able to have a different instance of the tokbox for each room or person, so you could have 2 open at once.
Permalink Reply by J.Wings on December 24, 2012 at 1:54pm Some thoughts suggestions, but I will write fast, so excuse me if it sounds like a to do list ;)
After almost a full day my users sent about 23,000 messages. WOWOWOW! I like the statistics. I'm assuming thats measured as 1 message each time someone hits return. Would love to see sub-statistics for each time a game or tokbox was launched, etc. That would help evaluate if certain features weren't getting used you could clean up the top of the IM box a little.
the button for smileys should go down where you type. at least that's the convention. It should be added to the IM box, maybe even replacing the bubble icon. the smileys list should hover/slide, not browser popup.
It would just be great if you could sort the video thing enough to the point that that people could drop userplane or 123flash chat, but those are still best of class now in terms of video control. What you are doing with tokbox has a lot of potential, especially if you really dig into their API to get more control of the user experience.
This is rocking as an IM setup and simple link bar. Some lag, but every ning integrated chat system has had growing pains in this area.
