Comments to group discussions are cutting off at 4,000 characters

It's supposed to be 40,000! NOT 4,000.   I have submitted a support ticket.  Here is a screenshot of the error.  Anyone else noticed this?   (I just had another member say she posted 2,000 characters and it still said she couldn't add more than 4,000.)

the application still is not working for more than 4000 characters.

and we are NOT talking about the comments-feature for blogs etc.!

we are talking about the contribution-length in discussions/forums, groups and so on.

4000 characters for that is ridiculous. this is NING, not TWITTER, i suppose!

please work on that immediately!

You are correct, Gerhard! Sorry this is an inconvenience. We have a few additional spots where we've had to roll this back to 4,000 characters for responses while we troubleshoot this odd bug. I'm hopeful that we can get this fixed for you without too much delay. Twitter allows 140 characters for a post, which you are again correct about -- that is a very big difference. Thanks for pointing that out. We'll try to get this fixed for you. Thanks for your patience!

eric, of course i know the difference between twitter (140) and ning (4000). but also i know other differences, e.g. the purpose of the network, and also the price-models.

my patience would be still enormous, if ning still would be free of charge. but it isn't. not at all!

and so the provider should act very carefully regarding to implemented restrictions.

We just noticed that all of the comments in our groups are gone. Plus the group info boxes and images are gone. HELP!!!

Hi Bryant,

Check to see if you have Groups enabled on the Features Layout page.

Thanks,
Phil

Hey, bryant. I think this may be unrelated to the issue being discussed here. Have you removed your Groups from your Features Layout? If so, you will lose some functionality.

duh!!!!! my mistake

This actually happens quite often, bryant. Maybe we need some messaging around this or have access blocked to groups if you remove the functionality from Features Layout.

I just called to check on this and told it was a "TOP PRIORITY"  and that it would be fixed this week...but...they couldn't promise...ugh!!!

Thanks for the info, Pam! *fingers crossed*

Yeah!!!.....they are "hoping" to solve this by today or tomorrow.   That's the latest update I've gotten from the great NING team ;-)

I just posted a fairly long Blog post.  Not sure if that was any issue before.  I was having trouble with the Forum discussions.  But at least the Blog was able to be posted without being cut off.
