Creating a Business Directory on Ning Network

Hey Gang!

 

I looked for a discussion on this topic already but only came up with very old discussions from 2010. Does anyone know if it is now easier to create a business directory on your Ning Network? I am in desperate need of one for my network but don't know a way to do it yet.

 

I am doing some research of course but thought I should ask everyone here in case you know of a great way to do it on a Ning network specifically. Thanks in advance :)

From experience I can say that it's not currently the way to go.

 

Future API options may change that, but right now I'd recommend doing it with software designed for that outside of ning, and then iframing or linking to it.

I need this functionality as well.  However, currently, I have a public site (http://www.VocalDisorders.org) and a membership site (http://www.VoiceMatters.net).   I am considering just setting up the business directory on the WP site and then listing businesses there.  Not the most convenient, but there is a benefit in that it will help increase public exposure to businesses and services offered by my members (those with vocal disorders).  I guess I could always do the iframe option for my site as well.

Andrea, I too am looking for options for including a business directory to our sites, and checked out VoiceMatters.net. Where did you get the Member Map? I'd love to include something like that in our Ning site? Are there limits on how many members can be pinned to the map?
