Create an external stylesheet and link to it in your custom code,
Eg
http://creators.ning.com/forum/topics/tip-style-sheet-for-some-of-m...
Try and put code to elements that you don't mind loading last in this style sheet.

You might want to try Unused CSS, or some of the CSS cleaners available.
