So, I have a network for gamers and I want them to be able to put down their usernames for Xbox, PS3, Steam etc. through a custom module that says something like this:

Xbox Gamertag: [Box to insert text]

Games i'm interested in playing: [Box to insert text]

Is it possible to make a module to do something like this? I'd also like it to be located on every members page so that it represents them. I'm not very experienced with coding, but if I have direction I can figure it out (hopefully). Sorry if I posted this in the wrong area, I wasn't quite sure where to put it. The network is over at www.qewd.com if you'd like to check it out.

Hi Chandler,

Can you add profile questions for these items? Members will fill them in during signup and they will appear on profile pages.

Thanks,
Phil

You can also add a custom text box that appears on all profile pages.  And you can add text to it so you can add instructions to the box. I use it so that members can add a brief bio or their resume.  It's been a while since I set this up, so I dont really recall how i went about it.

 Thanks you guys :)

 Chandler,

I am clueless when it comes to ning, but I mess around with things a lot. I love to push buttons and see what it does. Anyways, so I am not sure if this may be an idea for you, but here is a thought:

I checked out your network, people are wanting their user names on the game. (And games they play).

Now, in my network, I have profile questions set up when they register (I am mommy and fertility site), and I categorize them using this.

Example: Profile question: "What is your user name for?"

Then have a list (Now I am not a gamer, I can barely play the freaking Wii)

The list to have would be: Xbox User name: (and all the rest of the games)

Now, once you get that figured out with the profile questions, make search page kind of like this:

eBay (those who check marked ebay with profile choice questions will all be listed)

 photography (same here)

So basically you could take the advanced search and use it for your advantage. Make a page like I had, if you go to my network, under the home page. Another menu will appear, go over towards the right and you will see something that says "Directory".. I used the advanced search to do all this.

It's a thought, but like I said I am still learning anyways with ning, hehe. Someone here I am sure may be able to create a text box like you want though.

I see what you mean, the only problem I see is how it shows up on the profile. It would show up on their profile without explaining what the username is for. This would be very confusing... i'm going to try and figure this out... Thanks for the suggestions, they help :)
