Long time ago I wrote this UNIQUE CLASS NAME FOR EVERY PAGE. Maybe it's hard to achieve. But it very necessary for groups.  Then every group can easily has it's own special style or functions. Every group must be something different. And I hate use javascript to do CSS things. The performance issue is very serious.

Or Ning has better ideas for customizing groups? Independent Design Studio? :)

Agree! We need to be able to customize Groups all the way around, design and organization. For example: Categories for Group Discussions.

yep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm in two minds about Ning prioritising this. On the one hand many Ning networks use groups extensively, on the other many NCs I've spoken to say that their Nings are essentially a large group anyway where smaller groups (in the Group module sense) simply aren't needed. I'm also not a big advocate of too much customisation of individual sections of my site. I don't allow members to customise their themes and I'd probably apply the same logic to groups.
But like I say, I can see why some might find it useful, just not as useful as improved mobile, blogs, paid access, better member categories, tiered paid access etc.

+1. Not for me, but but I'm sure many would make good use of it on their own networks. I prefer to keep things inclusive and fluent throughout the site.

Well, for me they are more important than blogs.

I am waiting for making categories for group discussions. It's a really important function. Do we need latest activity feature for group?

latest activity in every section would be awesome like latest forum activity, latest events activity and so on...basically ning needs the ability to pull data to tell you what other members are doing and liking about our networks

I use latest activity for groups heaps

Yes Alex ...like each navigation tab has unique id.

Also, I hope to marking up unique id or class by member category!!
If it's possible, we can control to group feature by member category :D

Customizing groups would be a very nice feature but I would prefer to have group categories and discussion categories (like the forums), as of right now my site has thousands of groups and they're all lumped in together with no easy way to find what you're looking for.

I think part of the reason groups are not as popular (unless they show up in the first few pages) is because people cannot easily find the group genre they're looking for. Customizing would be awesome but categorization would be more important at this stage imo.
