date time stamp for page last updated (or modified)

This is more of a feature request...

I've been googling for a code that will update the last time I modify a page.  I've tried a few things but they all update on refreshing a page or whenever the page is last visited (even though the script is designed to only update on the last edit).

Does anyone have a script and instruction, to make it work this with ning pages?

If not then could we possibly have this as a feature in creating a page?
Maybe as a check box option to display the last date modified somewhere on the page (bottom or top) and it would update whenever the save button was clicked in the editor?
