I just created a group last night. I've been unable to customize it or click on about 2/3 of the links, because they are all set up as dead links -- javascript:void(0) -- according to my husband, who is a web programmer/designer, it was programmed this way (not a problem at my end).

One specific example is where you choose the main theme. You have a few examples showing on the page, and then dots & arrows to be able to view additional themes to choose from. All of those dots and arrows are dead links. The "Customize Appearance" box on top is the same. There are several other similarly-coded links.

The "Quick Add..." drop-down box to the right is greyed-out and inactive on all my screens, as well.

Anyone else run into this ?

Which network are you seeing this on? I've not heard of it before.

Thanks!
Laura
It's called "things". things.ning.com Brand new, haven't done a thing with it yet (haven't been able to !). It's in MY screen, where I should be able to customize the group and so on. Not sure if you'd be able to access that.
I LOVE that you thought to procure things.ning.com - - very cool.
Jojo,

I just added myself as a member, and then made a few entries and changed My Page

All seemed to be working fine.

William
Hi Jojo,

I took a look at your network and didn't see any problems. Is it possible that you're using a browser extension that might be interfering with javascript, like noscript? If you can, try accessing with a different browser to see if the problems persist.
No, I don't think so. I tried 2 different browsers (Firefox & I.E.). And Javascript works in both of them.
Hi Jojo,

Thanks for that. It sounds like javascript isn't working for you on your network. Is it working here, on creators (quick add, and customizing your profile page etc)? Client side issues are pretty difficult to diagnose; my advice would be to clear your browser cache, install the firebug web extension to see if there's something that's causing a javascript error, and make sure that you're not blocking any urls related to javascript, either in the browser or via a router setting. If those things don't help, please follow up with the help center and we'll investigate some more.
Thanks -- I'll give it a go a bit later and let you know what happens.
You know what, it's NOT my browsers. And the problem exists for me on all Ning groups I'm a member of -- ONLY since they redesigned the site. My Javascript is enabled and works just fine on all sites except here. If I float my mouse pointer over the links in question, the status bar shows that the link, as coded by Ning, is: javascript:void(0). That IS the link. It's coded that way.

I double-checked this with my husband, who is an experienced, advanced web programmer.

You can float your mouse pointer over any link on a web page and see the link down in the status bar of your browser. This works in both I.E. and Firefox. Go and look at the "CUSTOMIZE APPEARANCE" page of your own page. The first section is "FIRST, CHOOSE A THEME". There are a few themes displayed there, and on the top, towards the right, are some gray arrows (left & right) with gray dots. You should be able to click on those arrows and dots to see more example themes. Float your mouse pointer over the arrows and dots and observe the coded link down in the status bar at the bottom of your browser. If you are seeing the same page that I'm seeing, the link will say: javascript:void(0) which is the code a web programmer uses when creating an intentionally dead javascript link (i.e., haven't decided where to link to yet, or the link-to page hasn't been developed yet, but have to put something here for the moment). Try clicking on them and see if anything happens.

I would love for somebody to try this and see if it is working for them and not for me.

Thanks in advance.
NOTE: This applies only to the javascript-coded links. The regular HTML links work just fine.
It sounds like you just need to enable javascript.
FireFox, click on Tools/Options and check "Enable Javascript"

If you need it for IE, let me know and I'll look.

Update: that's really odd JoJo. I didn't see your other responses, when I left this one. It's as if they weren't here. So, if your javascript is enabled, I wouldn't know what's wrong. I know the symptoms sounded just like what you would see, if it were not enabled.

Good luck.
No, no ... it's enabled. It's been enabled for years. And it works everywhere else. And I double- and triple-checked that it is, indeed, enabled.

Ah, I see your further response (that you've seen the rest of my own responses).

I have sent an e-mail to Ning tech support asking for help. I'm stumped !
