Hi all,

In the old days with the old design editor, we had something like 65000 CSS characters to play with.

In the Design Studio we get a measly 15000. It's not enough. I know you can tweak various things with the design studio, but in my opinion the themes are so bad by default that they need a lot more than 15000 characters to get them anywhere near how we want them.

External stylesheets are all well and good if you don't mind them loading last. Which I do.

One suggestion would be to give us more CSS space and less historical themes to access (My Themes). This feature is flawed anyway because saving one change in the DS means you have an archived theme without having done much and no real way of knowing what differentiates each of 'My Themes'.

I'm not just coming at this from the point of view of someone who develops client Ning sites, it's a real frustration on my own site.

Anyone else want this?

SP

ps. Don't even get me started on developer mode .... Develop it for a client and they're stuck with developer mode rather than being able to tweak the DS. Pointless for client work.

I totally agree with you SP. Using external css file is not a good idea because it doesn't change the actual tweaks instantly. So we obviously need more spaces in DS to re-design the network completely.

Cheers Bernard

it does if u put the link in the ads above header however with no webdav you gotta upload and change the link that sux i have webdav still so i edit it directly on the webdac]v mapped drive  saving is slow it takes a few seconds and the css might not load right di[uring the save  but  it works perfectly  putting the link high up (ads above header) loads it right after ning bar and works wonderfully i have unlimmited css see http://www.dreadlockssite.com/extra.css

YES!!

Thanks for replying

Heck yes!

Cheers Damien

Definitely! 15,000 is just not enough, a joke really. What was Team Ning thinking? ;-) And, inevitably an external stylesheet is needed for a professional design. This becomes messy, and takes more time to edit.

Yes Jen 15000 characters is a kinda joke for a professional design. I'm sure many ning designers are spending hell lot of time in external stylesheet.

Sounds good SP :)

Thanks Dave. Spread the word if you have friends on here who care about this stuff. :-)

external can load 1st just put the link in the ads above the headeer not in custom code  the only thing that loads b4 css is ningbar
