I have to say I'm pretty disappointed with Network Creators.
Most of you wine and cry about what you don't like or what features you want, but where is your voice when Ning is asking for feedback. Case in point the Beta Chat, I can count on my fingers the number of creators who are/have given feedback.
Don't give me some line that you didn't want to test it out cause it's in beta. Turn it on engage your members, ask them to test it out even if it's only for a few hours and get their feed back. They will appreciate you more for trying to improve your network. If it's not up to par yet disable the beta and turn back on the old chat and wait till the next update.
Don't complain for the next four years about the New Chat when you didn't even VOTE, oops I mean give feedback.

Once the chat is over with a friend and the window is closed or minimized on one browser tab, it should remain in the same state on other browser tabs too, but at present it pops up again and again when we switch over from one tab to the other. I am using Chrome latest version.
member online keeps on showing un-refreshed figure for few seconds and then corrects itself when we navigate from one tab to other.
Sometimes speed is quite slow. I am using 3.1 mbps 3G connection.
Provision of adding additional members on a private window will be a good addition, if possible.
No need to complain for me? I like the old chat box just the way it is. nice and simple to use and easy for the new members to understand.
Permalink Reply by Alex 小正正 on December 27, 2011 at 4:57am Please don't be so disappointed. As Jonathan said, some Ning Networks don’t use the Chat feature, but those who do use it a lot and have asked for improvements.
If you use it a lot and it's very important to you. Just feedback a lot!! Don't need to care other people say. Just do it!! We all thank you for let us have a great Chat feature.
Permalink Reply by Lana Mack on December 29, 2011 at 5:37am I am sometimes confused about what's been added and what features were already there so I don't reply. I appreciate any upgrades and will reply more in the future. I really need help to grow my network. As far as chat, I have not use it a lot but when I did I felt it need some work. I'll use it again and post what I think.
Permalink Reply by Roeland Koene on January 2, 2012 at 2:25pm Hi,
I've been sort of reading this line. Sort of as in I started reading & got bored & jumped to page 10. I decided that I was not going to write anything, then changed my mind.
This is exactly how forums get wacked out of existance. Let's all nag about this a long time and then nag because NING isn't home. Well they are, but the might need some time to fix things. I myself work a multinational company and use NING for a closed loyalty group. I find that at a certain point you either go ballistic at the fact that people don't react immediatltly OR you use the old Zen to calm yourself down, think of the way things work in the world and then find a way to get yourself to find an answer yourself.
This is were creators come in. Here is were our Zen is. We help ourselves.
The NING I run is just about that. It helps people help themselves. OK, I've got some people nagging as well, but genarally they are helping each other very well. It's gotten to the point were I went down from a daily e-mail burden of 7 hours to 20 minutes. Smply because of changing from narrow cast to broadcast.
Now as for FB: As my users are solely Pro photgraphers, posting any picture on FB will immidiatly kill their copyright. Nice.
OK, that's my comment. Let's just pull together and make solutions. We know NING is listening, give them some slack in creating the tech stuff. They can't do it all in 7 days ;o)

You've missed something in this thread? Minimal NING.COM replies. People keep asking and replying because of the lack of Official NING responses. The new chat works quicker and easier then the old one. The only issues I have with it are the lack of admin options. On our site admin needs to be able to suspend members from chat for a set period like we could in the old style. We can't be on watching 24hrs a day to delete comment by comment.
Permalink Reply by Eric Suesz on January 16, 2012 at 9:18am Hi, Dilligaf. I wanted to respond to you because you specifically seem to be asking for a Ning response. We have been listening to every response, but we haven't really replied too much in this discussion for two important reasons:
We'll never meet everyone's needs, but we do listen and distribute feedback we hear throughout our organization. At the risk of angering anyone, I think that Roeland is pretty spot on: go ballistic or take a Zen-like approach? It seems people will invariably do one of these no matter what we do.
To your point about chat: We did change the time periods for chat suspension. I don't think we'll be adding a way to set a specific time period, although that is on the list of requests, so I will add your voice to that list. At the top of that list: clearing out chat on command. Hoping we can get at least one of these implemented soon. Thanks!
Permalink Reply by George Montgomery on January 15, 2012 at 3:38am Generally I am happy with the NING platform - I like its openness to being personalised to suit my own network interests - that's its BIG benefit over FB and the like. Ofcourse I am always keen to see new features coming along to promote user growth and interest.
The NC forum I also find useful - though haven't been a big user of that. But like on any forum 10% of the users always generate most of the traffic, which the other 90% read and react to - that's true here, and probably on most Ning networks, I bet.
Permalink Reply by Roeland Koene on January 16, 2012 at 12:28pm True words.. There are seeders & leachers. With 650 members, 20 create most traffic. Doesn't matter I get 100 individuals reading their seeds. What amazes me is that so many people are "afraid" to voice themselves. Everytime I do a system broadcast the meter jumps from a hundred to 400 for a day.
Well, my network is only small, and very managable. I know thing quickly run out of hand when things get bigger. I understand all your concerns, also those of Dillgaf. But Eric says some true words as well: this thread was started to shake you, the NING creators, up. Well, it has. I will stay Zen, as Eric says, but not in the way that I will go passive: Feedback, true feedback, starts off the cocreation process, and that's were we all benefit. Truly benefit.
Keep that in mind.
