I don't know why it can't be public.
I'm not sure if I'm successful but I'm getting significant donations. I didn't have any success until I created a "Supporters" campaign. Those who donate get some special recognition and content and become "Supporters".
It takes effort and sometimes I feel like, "why do I beg?" but it is the only way it works - you got to send requests in newsletters, make video requests etc....

Permalink Reply by Stanley-Carl du-Pont on January 21, 2012 at 3:49am I'm real new here and have just started a new ministry network. I'd to get input on setting up a donations link on the site at a later stage.

David, can we chat by phone sometime?
Permalink Reply by Gary W Norman on January 21, 2012 at 7:43am I accept Donations on BeardedGents.com , but it's not realy successful in general. I post it in Status Updates, in my bi-weekly newsletter, and on Twitter and Facebook. lol I often have that feeling described by David D. of 'why do I have to beg?' I try to remind my members that I do not charge for my site, nor do I run ads on it. I personally don't care for sites with ads and just don't want mine to have them; so I have to accept donations to help with costs.
