Facebook IS Now Charging Page Owners to Interact With Their Fans

Facebook is introducing a feature (more of a ripoff than a feature) that will let fan pages pay to promote a post. Facebook states it is not a requirement however if you do not pay, Facebook will use EdgeRank to greatly reduce fan interaction with fan pages. So you tell me how it isn't a requirement. More like extortion.

Fan page owners will have to pay between $5.00-$300.00 to gain exposure on a post. The higher the amount paid, the more interaction with fans Facebook will allow using EdgeRank. If you have not seen it pop up as you are trying to submit a post you soon will. The new policy is just being put into place so not all pages have access to it as of yet.

FB Says:

If I don’t promote my post, will the people who like my Page still see it?
Nothing has changed about how your posts are shared with the people who like your Page.

A lot of activity happens on Facebook and most people only see some of it in their news feeds. They may miss things when they’re not on Facebook, or they may have a lot of friends and Pages, which results in too much activity to show all of it in their news feed.

If you don’t promote your post, many of the people connected to your Page may still see it. However, by promoting a post, you’re increasing its potential reach so an even larger percentage of your Page audience and the friends of those interacting with your post will see it.

Liars cause are Fan Page reach is down 40-50%

Interesting Topic... Thanks for sharing...

You won't believe how foolish some of those millionaire investors are.

Even Titanic eventually sank.

this is message we got from facebook

You actually have too many likes to be able to access the Promoted Post function. Currently, only Pages with between 400 to 100,000 likes are eligible to see the Promote button. Since your total number of likes is above 100,000 the Promote button will not appear in your Page timeline sharing tool.

Unbelievable! LOL I don't know what to say beyond that.

yeah my Page is dead so turned Profile into page just cant change my name proper oh well spacebook catchin up w/Ning !

Dear Facebook users, there is actualy an issue with Facebook Like

http://creators.ning.com/forum/topics/bug-on-the-facebook-like-button

That's the problem with being a part of other people's networks. You basically have no say with how things are managed. That's also why we all are network creators ourselves, so that we may do things in the way we think they should be done. What's the old saying, "if you don't like it, then do something about it." That's we did; we did something about it. We started our own niche social networks, and Ning has given us a voice here on Creators to roll out more features for our networks if a large enough number of creators are requesting them. Let's not let Facebook, Twitter, or any other global network dampen our spirits with their tyrannical moves. We know that the heart of any network lies within the people. Those corporate websites are only scripts without the members. They need to keep MySpace.com in mind before they end up following in their ghostly footsteps.

I would rather just open a regular account for a fan page then a fan page itself.

The reason? Likes = reach with account to account interaction. Just an observation.

Its Jerry rigged, but I'm an engineer, it wouldn't be the first time I played with duct tape.

But overall, since facebook switched to timeline, I am not as big of a fan of it. If they gave you the option to revert from timeline, possibly. But they don't. Same with the e-mail to facebook script, that's obviously a waste of resources, as the last thing anyone wants is spam in their social network inbox, and I'm sure their is plans to eventually capitalize on this. Maybe a script to convert FB ID's to FB Email account databases for updates is in order. Once you have that, the e-mail side has NOTHING to do with the FB side deciding reach what-so-ever. WELL, the alpha numerics. The one at the end to distinguish john.doe from john.doe.2 ..... I'm sure I could code up some kinda tell-tell around it.

Never really did any coding for FB API other then real generic "lemonade stand" stuff.

Who knows what young Mr. Zuckerberg will be charging for next, especially if his FB shares keep falling in value. One recent report suggests that "Zuckerberg's wealth down $4.5 billion as Facebook tumbles on NASDAQ"

The better method to use is "Group Pages". The members of your group ALL see your post. You can add anyone to your group page, and there's a post on each members page saying "they are now a member of your group", which is a lot better than fan pages. We used fan pages in the past until Facebook made these changes limiting your reach. When you post in your group, all of the member get a notification that something has been posted in the group.

We are now offering advertising promotions to clients in exchange of them adding their friend list to our group. At this rate, we should be over 10,000 by the end of the year, if not more. Our website is www.DallasFlow.com, an online magazine covering entertainment, fashion, and lifestyle. And our group page is "Dallas Flow Magazine". We just started increasing our group members, and we're already over 700. Let me know if anyone has questions.

The problem with Facebook groups is that people are automatically added, rather than receive a request to join the way it used to be. Nobody likes being "kidnapped" into a group they have no wish to be a part of. Most people hate being added to Facebook groups, especially when pretty much all your friends are adding you to their groups.
