Facebook is introducing a feature (more of a ripoff than a feature) that will let fan pages pay to promote a post. Facebook states it is not a requirement however if you do not pay, Facebook will use EdgeRank to greatly reduce fan interaction with fan pages. So you tell me how it isn't a requirement. More like extortion.
Fan page owners will have to pay between $5.00-$300.00 to gain exposure on a post. The higher the amount paid, the more interaction with fans Facebook will allow using EdgeRank. If you have not seen it pop up as you are trying to submit a post you soon will. The new policy is just being put into place so not all pages have access to it as of yet.
FB Says:
If I don’t promote my post, will the people who like my Page still see it?
Nothing has changed about how your posts are shared with the people who like your Page.A lot of activity happens on Facebook and most people only see some of it in their news feeds. They may miss things when they’re not on Facebook, or they may have a lot of friends and Pages, which results in too much activity to show all of it in their news feed.
If you don’t promote your post, many of the people connected to your Page may still see it. However, by promoting a post, you’re increasing its potential reach so an even larger percentage of your Page audience and the friends of those interacting with your post will see it.
Liars cause are Fan Page reach is down 40-50%

Permalink Reply by Kos on April 7, 2013 at 8:33am I thought one received an "invitation" to join a group on FB, no? Maybe they've changed that. I honestly haven't paid attention.
Permalink Reply by MAXX on April 7, 2013 at 8:42am Duraine, is there an easy way to move/invite fan page members to a new group page?
Permalink Reply by FedMedic on April 7, 2013 at 8:47am What I did Maxx was copy my group's link into a status message and invited everyone to join and asked those who saw my status to please share. Most did and my group exploded. Like Patrick said, no one likes being "kidnapped" into a group. They prefer to make the decision themselves. LOL!

FedMedic, that's a great idea!
Permalink Reply by Duraine Williams on April 24, 2013 at 2:44pm Lol, well here's the thing: I added my friends to the group, and they all know what I do, so not one of them had an issue with it. Its when you're adding them to something their not familiar with that they have an issue with it then. We are a digital magazine, www.DallasFlow.com, all of my friends know who we are and who I am. We are growing fast, and as we place people in the group, their friends see that they joined our group, then they ask to join also.
Here's the link to our group page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/dfmgroup/

Permalink Reply by Patrick Chappelle on April 24, 2013 at 3:31pm Well if you're the only one adding them to your group, it's not a problem. It has slowed down recently, but before there wasn't a week that went by that someone didn't add me to their group. The same applies to more than 80% of my friends, we're all so sick of being added, we now delete anyone who adds us to their group. That means if I decided to start a group (which I will never do), I risk most of my Facebook contacts deleting me.
Permalink Reply by Troy Marquis on April 7, 2013 at 1:41pm $5 to $20 not $300 i use it its not effective i post links from my site to fb then pay $5 to get 1000 hits but when i go on my site and see the views its no where near 300 views
Permalink Reply by Duraine Williams on April 24, 2013 at 2:50pm Yeah, I got away from Facebook post. You pay $5-$75 and get no results. That's a waste. It use to allow you to post things on your page and then all of your followers would see it at no extra charge. Facebook has enough money, this is getting ignorant in my opinion. But take advantage of group pages, before they start charging for that too.............
