Sometimes the facebook like button doesnt work at all - when I click on the LIKE button it gets liked and 1 second later it gets unliked again automatically. The bug is not consistent, sometimes it works without any problems - those that do not work, usually work if you try it again like 2 hours later - but though the button shows that you liked it that actual topic doesnt get transferred to the facebook wall anyway
anyone else having this problem ?

I just visited the link above and tried. There was a link after I clicked "like" asking me to confirm...i clicked it and it registered. Not sure why it happened. I asked a few friends to try it out.
Don't remove the code just yet. I'm heading home in about 1 hr. I'll look into it further.
Permalink Reply by Scott on December 3, 2012 at 11:24am Thanks. I'll be on the road for the next few hours so the code will stay in tact. I appreciate the help.
Permalink Reply by Troy D. Bertrand on December 3, 2012 at 2:51pm I think your problem is solved now. I tested several of your forum posts with no issues. Try it out for yourself.
It's weird but I think I'm onto something here. When I inquired about the Facebook "Like" bug I was told that the issue wasn't with Ning it was with Facebook. I did some digging and found that some links do not propagate on Facebook. For some reason it's not recognized as valid.
I though of this crazy idea and posted the link of my 1st network on several Facebook pages in an attempt to "validate" it. It did the trick but I wasn't sure if it was coincidence. I had the same issue with my second network and did the same thing and it worked. In both cases the trick only worked after I replaced the native "Like" button with the custom one.
I think I've proved my theory right with what I just did in your case. I posted your network link on a few Facebook walls then came back and tested the "Like" buttons and it works.
Note that when your're "Liking" a post you're really just "Liking" the link. Take this example: You access a post from the forum section and see that it has "5 Likes". If you access that same post from the activity feed or by clicking on "comment" in the module the link will be different and so will not reflect the "5 Likes"...it may be "0" or a different number depending of if someone clicked on "Like" from that access parameter.
Good Luck with your Network!

Permalink Reply by Scott on December 3, 2012 at 3:07pm Thanks again Troy! I didn't realize that I was liking the link and not the actual photo. Happy Holidays!

By the way, if you want to remove the "send" button go to your custom code section (not design studio) and replace the word "true" with "false" in the line of code:
div class="fb-like" data-send="true"

I have the same problem with the AddThis code: this is the url that is taken into account and not the content.
This is really a big problem for me: I usually send a daily email with an invitation to see a movie. The link is a link with "?&xg_source=msg_share_video" at the end. For those who come via this link, no problem: they will clearly see the others "like" . However, for those who come on the video by browsing the site, they will never have the "?&xg_source=msg_share_video" at the end of the url and they will therefore not see the "likes" of all those who came by email.
This is realy a shame if somebody think that nobody likes a video when in fact there are already 50 or 100 "like".
From what I understand, the problem is the same whether one uses the AddThis code or the code that you have given us. What a shame ...
I wanted to write "It's a pitty" and not "What a shame". Sorry...

Permalink Reply by Observing Anchorage on September 24, 2012 at 10:51pm We were having this problem. So we uninstalled the Facebook App and planned to rebuild it (only takes a few minutes). However, now when we click on "Facebook Integration" the link is broken inside our control panel. We've cleared the cache, logged out, logged back in. We've done everything possible but the link is simply broken. It says, exactly:
We're sorry, we are having an issue with this page. Follow this link to the main page.
If you get this message again, please let us know.
Permalink Reply by Troy D. Bertrand on September 26, 2012 at 4:06pm I'm mobile now so can't readily access my codes. My fb like issue has been resolved ever since I start using a social buttons code i found right here on creators.
The only problem I experienced happen yesterday after posting a blog but the problem had nothing to do with the "Like" button itself. The link to my post ended in -(a dash) and for some reason Facebook did not pick up the dash and so the link appears broken on Facebook. This happened even after I post the link manually to Facrbook.
Vistit my site and see for yourself.
