Find Member ID's

When I asked "Is There A Way To Find Member ID's", George H. Compton IV had an answer:

If you use Firefox just right-click anywhere on the page and select view source.  A window will open then select the edit tab then select "find" then type "CurrentProfile" in the search module.  It will find a line just like this "CurrentProfile":{"id":"1rrxm6884slkx"

Unfortunately, even though the steps were correct, the search term was not. Searching for Current Profile gives you YOUR Member ID. Instead, search for:

_screenName =

The number after the equal sign is their member ID.

You might wonder what the point of finding out the Member ID is. I determined I was not able to use it in the intended way (Read Here), but there IS a use for it... To subscribe to every member's activity feed! One of the best reasons to do this is to keep an eye on possible spam activity. Regardless of whether or not the RSS activity feed shows on their profile, the feed goes to your feed reader! Simply follow the steps above to get the member's ID, then replace "yournetworkurl" with your network's URL and "Member ID" with their ID in the link below.

I use it all the time in javascript code when I need to know who's page a person is interacting with.  I just used it in a new app that visually notifies members when someone comments on their profile.

If I need a quick visual of a person's Ning ID, I hover over the person's apps link under their photo on their profile page and see their NingID at the end of the link URL that shows in my status at the bottom of my browser.
