Forum

Forum tabs have DISAPPEARED!

Definitely not a good way to start my Monday.  I have done all the typical solutions.  Diff. browsers, cleared cache, hard refresh, removed CSS and custom code, etc.

They were there an hour ago (I added a post) and now *POOF* gone.  Filed a ticket #699079

Sadly "this" happened several months ago and Ning shrugged and didn't know who did it............but boy, I am not a happy camper.

Is anyone else experiencing this???

Sorry to hear about this, Kos, Just wanted to add a comment here to show solidarity and hope you get this resolved as soon as possible.

    • Well thank you Garfield.  Do you still have a 2,0 and are your forums showing?  You may be completely on 3.0 by now.

I know this is a 2.0 site problem but damn.......talk about pissing me off before I've had my caffeine.  LOL

It's a very active site and as soon as I noticed it, I was already receiving emails complaining members couldn't post.  The indians went on the warpath.  *lol*  I've rebuilt a few of the tabs and updated my ticket accordingly but "discussions" (what we call our forums) is still missing form the Quick Post area which we use a great deal.  idk what Ning is doing but they better knock it off.

I have a 2.0 but it is not active enough to have my members contacting me like they are contacting you. Haven't noticed anything on my end similar to what's happening to you. Staying clear of 3.0 for now.

        • This one was migrated to a 3.0 end of December and after activity dropped to almost nothing (and a ton of headaches like the owner not being able to access her own DS), we demanded to go back to 2.0.  They said it must just be a glitchy site. (wth?)  Luckily they had not deleted the 2.0 and we were given the go ahead to revert.  Shocker......activity zoomed right back although we've lost several members and six months of content as a result of the 3.0 headaches.  I love 3.0's capabilities, especially multiple blog/forum instances but with no interactivity, it may as well be a static site.  Worthless to this genre (politics)

  • I'm sorry, Kos.
It's not happening on any network that I've seen. If you'd like me to have a look I'd be more than happy to. :-) Just send me a message with your link.

I hope this is resolved soon for you.

    • Thanks George.  Appreciate it.  Ning's definitely doing something on the back end though.  Pages which I know I deleted (one in particular I deleted at least 3 times) keep re-appearing as if by magic.  There was a group of 19 which I whittled down to 7.........and all 19 are back.

idk if it's a server issue with that - I never filed a ticket b/c it wasn't worth it but I tell you what - come to work and see everything you deleted is back.....and you want to strangle someone.  It's maddening.  Maybe I should move to Colorado, become a pot smoker and roll with the flow!  LOL

      • Yes Ning has been working hard, on what I'm not really sure. LOL

kOS "Maybe I should move to Colorado, become a pot smoker and roll with the flow!"

LMAO!!!!  Now that is just funny :-) I'M GLAD YOU HAVEN'T LOST YOUR SENSE OF HUMOR. :-)

You have a great day Kos.

  • I wonder if this is at all linked to the 3.0 activity feed that's supposed to be released because I just now noticed that new forum posts are not appearing in this 2.0 activity feed either.   *sigh*

  • I "lost" my forum, photos and tons of pages recently 4 months post migrating to 3.0. They were in the 'unlinked' section in page manager but all the URLs are invalid and show an error message when trying to access. I had to rename all my modules and pages which is playing havoc with my already (post migration) ruined SEO. I have been in lengthy to a fros with support but still no solution (except blaming custom code).

To top it off all my member profile questions and data disappeared overnight!!

Things must be unstable indeed in Ning-land!!

    • Simon didn't they offer to re-migrate and get the profile questions over?  I had them complete re-migrate everything at one point.  The first one (although admittedly we were a guinea pig in December) was horrible.  From what I understand, migration has greatly improved but a bad one should be able to be resolved.  smh
