Expect to have over a hundred join in the next few days, part of a club and lots of friends will be created. Sure hope this is a fast fix.

Permalink Reply by Eric Suesz on April 27, 2012 at 9:00am This friend request issue is still ongoing. I hope to have an update for you about this in the next hour.
Permalink Reply by Eric Suesz on April 27, 2012 at 10:33am Okay, everyone. First, thank you for posting here with your reports about friend requests! Huge help from our most dedicated community members. You guys are wonderful with your reports.
I have information for you. The good news is that you haven't missed out on any friend requests. What you are seeing are "phantom" friend requests. I'll try to explain, but it is a little goofy what is happening.
Right now, when you've cleared out your friend requests, you may see 1 outstanding (or 2 or 3, etc.), but what that actually represents are requests from people who have either been suspended or left the network. That number basically shouldn't display, but it is displaying. So, when you go to click on that phantom friend request, the system doesn't see any pending friend requests and points you to your list of all friends instead. So, if you get 12 friend requests today, you'll see those and will be able to get to those to approve them, but once you've approved them all, that annoying "1" outstanding phantom request will show up again. Hope that makes sense. It's a pretty annoying bug, but one we can fix.
Now that we have identified the problem, we can work on the fix. I will report back as soon as I have info on that fix.
Permalink Reply by Scott Bishop on April 27, 2012 at 11:05am That make perfect sense. I'm pretty sure that the friend request came from a spammer trying to sing up for my site that I denied which brings up another question (and it's probably a dumb one).
Since that person who was trying to signup was able to friend request me (before approval), can they friend request any of the members on my site?
Permalink Reply by Eric Suesz on April 27, 2012 at 11:21am Gee, I'm not sure I can really answer that question. It's hard to know specifically how that one occurred without looking at it really closely. I don't even want to make any assumptions. Is that even possible? I will try to see if I can replicate that sort of situation, though, if only out of curiosity.
Permalink Reply by Scott Bishop on April 27, 2012 at 10:39am I am have this issue too. I wrote in a ticket before I saw this thread, ticket No. 00688653
Here's what happens: I can not get to the url "http://my-web-site/profiles/friendrequest/listReceived".
Instead it keeps redirecting to "http://my-web-site/friends/MyProfileName".
Permalink Reply by Eric Suesz on April 27, 2012 at 10:45am Check out my response. I think I just posted it while you were posting. Ships crossing in the night kind of thing. Basically, you've cleared out your friend requests, but the system is showing you a different number that is based on friend requests from "phantom" friends -- people who left the network in the past or who were suspended. Try to visit that URL and if there are no true outstanding friend requests, our system's logic redirects you to the all friends page.
